This made me laugh way more than I probably should have.
A flooded toby carvery show from the outside. The water looks very brown.
The caption reads, tell me when to stop with the gravy.

This has crossed my mind.
Is it me or has ANYONE heard of the Mulligans before? I've merely actively listened since '89 - i.e. hardly any time in terms of some #thearchers plotlines
Seems like a good moment to remind people that the moon is not, and never has been, an egg.

“I’ve lived 10 minutes away from the man for 30 odd years and I didn’t even know his first name” - David Archer is a delightfully beautiful angry man sometimes. #thearchers
They have always been awful. I was born in the mid 70s and no one willingly cooked them and put them in a dinner as a “veg” back then. Sweet potatoes can fuck off forever too.
I despise parsnips for this very reason. They are the devil’s veg.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
Apropos of nothing I’ve just remembered that Lesley Judd off Blue Peter got left behind on the planet Arg at the end of an Adventure Game episode. And then had to be a regular character as herself in the next series to get home? Is this a true memory?
Wait until you see Benson! He was in that for 7 seasons.
@ericidle.bsky.social Just in my local and watching a group of old folk bade each other farewell after a very jolly and boozy sounding wake. They quietly sang “always look on the bright side of life…” as they departed. Was a nice thing. Thought you’d like to know.
“Don’t know” is the actual public favourite and should not be ignored!!

Very pleased to note that Anjli Mohindra and Sacha Dhawan have just married, as I massively fancy both of them.
