Start about 1/2 way down and a bit to the right-of-center of the linked material to find branches of Xianity. Members of each branch are likely to say *they* are "the real Xians." If they are fully open, they would express doubts about all the others >because there are reasons the branches exist<.

LLMs are naturally convincing to CEOs because the only skill CEOs need is the one thing LLMs are actually good at: talking confident bullshit.

Them: “I’m sick of subsidizing their groceries when mine cost so much”

SNAP does not drive up grocery prices.

That would be inflation, tariffs & corporate greed.

For every $1 spent on SNAP there’s a $1.50 going back into the economy.

While you’re blaming the poor, the rich are robbing everyone.

A-One -- precrime and thought police
US telecom company trained an ai model to scan incarcerated people’s “calls, texts, and emails in the hope of predicting and preventing crimes.”
An AI model trained on prison phone calls now looks for planned crimes in those calls
The model is built to detect when crimes are being “contemplated.”

International #adoptees, like me, who were brought to this country had zero choice in their citizenship status. Some of us, whose adoptive parents didn’t do the paperwork, have been deported already. And citizens like me are at risk due to this racist regime. 🥚

This thread is 💯. Labor precarity in academia means the evisceration of faculty governance and academic freedom, opening the door to administrative purges of the most vulnerable. And faculty-esp tenured faculty and academic leaders-who aren't defending their trans colleagues are enabling it.
So yeah, this is fundamentally about trans people and that cannot be elided, but the ways in which junior faculty are targeted and disposed of, while academic jobs are increasingly precarized, and political grandstanders seek to influence academic governance are fucking terrifying for everyone.

The fact that 12% of federal judges are Black shows the corruption of DEI. The fact that 67% of Supreme Court Justices belong to a small legal cult called the Federalist Society shows the power of meritocracy.

Fun Fact -- Indigenous (and Indigenous mixed) people from south of the US border are also Native to the continents that were named after a self-promoting pickle salesman and sometimes pimp (you know, good ole Amerigo)
“Trish Carter-Goodheart, a Democratic candidate and citizen of the Nez Perce Tribe, spoke plainly: Racism and discrimination remain real and persistent …

When the conversation hit a nerve, [the GOP senator] abruptly stormed out, shouting: ‘Why don’t you go back to where you came from?’”
Tribal IDs Are Federally Recognized. ICE Agents Are Ignoring Them.
Opinion. During last year’s Idaho election, a Republican state senator lost his composure when a candidate forum turned to the topic of racism.

every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades

Judging by the pattern of decline of a relative with Alzheimer's, I'd estimate he'll be locked inside an assisted living memory care unit within 1-2 years.

Absolute debasement of academic standards
*student submits opinion in psych class

*instructor says she can make whatever arguments she wants but must draw on empirical sources
*student & Turning Point says her religious freedom & first amendment rights violated
*professor suspended
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Yep. Open adoption is not really for the adopted person. It doesn’t maintain our rights. It’s also rarely enforceable or respected. If you are considering terminating your parental rights ànd have been promised àn open adoption? Go talk to people at Concerned United Birthparents.
i want people to understand that “open” #adoption does not mean an end to the erasure of identity that makes secrecy possible. almost without exception, finalization of an adoption still results in the issuance of a new or “amended” birth certificate in which the natal parents’ names are replaced. +

So it's "let's buy dna test kits to gift people with" time of the year and the "don't use dna testing kits because evil people will one day figure out how to use your dna against you" folks are giving their annual warnings. As an adoptee who needed to use one to find her parents, please don't. 🥚

multiple layers of shit in this one -- the beauty of adoption being one of them
Her adoptive dad had sexually assaulted her for years. But when Taylor Cadle told police, she was treated like a “monster.” She was charged with lying to the police and had to write an apology letter to her abuser.

Justice finally came when Taylor took her phone and hit record.
Police didn’t believe a 12-year-old who said she'd been raped. Then she hit record.

Plenary adoption, as practiced in the western world, involves the "good experiences" of misogyny, racism, classism, and xian supremacy. 😲

🥚
the standard pro-#adoption propaganda tactic, which we saw all over social media this month, is to highlight adoptees who share “good adoption experiences.” But the issue, as with all injustices, isn’t whether the practice permits “good experiences,” but what other kinds of experiences it permits.

The white people who raised me gave me some instructions about how to interact with others (you know, those other *white people*) that jeopardized my physical safety.

🥚
Adoption🥚 intersectionality with race. I was adopted to white people. What I didn't know is that PoCs tend to defend against racism more by building up networks. But insulated from both defenses against racism on an individual and systemic level set me back quite a ways.
