Very, very few comic book creators can survive on just the money they make from comics. It is an inherently unstable job and it is only getting worse as time goes on. Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed of needing another job so that you can keep making comics.
Not being able to make a living just from your art doesn't make you a failure as an artist, it just means you're a totally normal working artist.

Photograph taken of a window at the C18th Mellon Homestead farmhouse, within the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. The living museum park charts the difficult emigration history of many from Ireland to the Americas following years of famine, poverty, unfair taxes and hardship. Image is a sash window with four panes of glass in the upper and lower window sections. An old net curtain hangs at the lower part. The window is white but its wooden surround is a red-brown. It sits within an old whitewashed, lumpy, stone wall. On the sill is a carved turnip with a sad mouth for halloween. The open air museum is a thought provoking day out and a 'must see' if you're in the area. Further details at www.ulsteramericanfolkpark.org
