suspect a big reason why many academics and others who work in areas where getting facts RIGHT is key are disinterested in using LLMs for research:
they’ve tried it, they keep noticing major errors in output, and they conclude that having to verify all that doesn’t actually save them time.

GLP-1 agonists (eg Ozempic) are showing promise to reduce alcohol drinking and perhaps opioid use. This is, of course, a potential therapeutic success which arises from the random walking of science, not an “efficient” directed research program.

Yeh why is this being reported as some kind of victory? The NSF gets a 3.4% cut here and the NIH budget is still uncertain and is tied up with HHS appropriations.

US jobs figures just out show the worst year for jobs gains outside a recession since 2003. Only 50,000 jobs in December and just 584,000 jobs in all of 2025. Nearly 85% of the job gains happened by April. Little hiring the rest of the year.
