The increasing proliferation of facial recognition systems which often fail to properly capture and categorize disabled users with facial differences As Faces At All is leading to mischategorization, inaccessible systems, personal tech lockout, & other harms, & like… Yeah, dawg: we told you it would
When Face Recognition Doesn’t Know Your Face Is a Face
An estimated 100 million people live with facial differences. As face recognition tech becomes widespread, some say they’re getting blocked from accessing essential systems and services.

the subreddits for luxury watches are some of the darkest places on earth
Rolex subreddit post:

My uncle has Alzheimer's and is often forgetful of his possessions. One of them is a Rolex Submariner. Would I be justified in taking and caring for it as my own instead of having it left neglected and forgotten in his jewelry box? Thanks.

Also Bondi: And when we’re done with Antifa, we’re going after Bigfoot. No one’s gonna hide in the woods and keep scaring hunters, drunks, and crazy tourists on my watch.

It's absolutely insane that a child killed himself with ChatGPT instructions and goading and Sam Altman's now pushing his addictive anthropomorphic bot to be sexual too.

This ghoul's name should be elevated to the most profane insult someone can sling.

The more yall talk the more I know why so many people around you get abused

Because a lot of you aren’t looking for solutions to terrible behavior just excuses so you can do it

My absolutely fav thing is when right wingers insist we ‘stage’ calls at LBC (we never do. We invite on guests - as announced - but everyone else just calls in on the number we give out) because the people supporting their point of view sound too daft to be real.

Anything but introspect, eh?

Not amazing . They eat and break bread with these people .

At the expense of the folks these people want to send to gas chambers, because lost in the looks shaming is how much they’ve said this in public to people

And they get rewards for it

Kind of amazing that the photo Politico used of one of these folks -- the one who made a joke about gas chambers -- is from an event that Politico sponsored last summer.

early 21st century americans were so modest that they would regularly censor their own feet in video and artistic depictions, and it was considered improper to expose your feet in public — dismissed with cries of "put those grippers away"

I've always hated microsoft, but the more money grabbing they become the more I hate them. They are an evil greedy mega corporation with a very coveinient monopoly which lets them think they can tell everyone what to do. No-one tells me what to do, so get fucked microsoft!!

"Civilisations" crumble into dust around us, while we cling to our illusions that tell us human progress is inevitably linear. As it has done many times before, what is hiding behind the mask of "civilisation" & "modernity" has shown its full face.

There are still medical educational tools in circulation that falsely teach that Black people feel less pain than white people & do no require anesthesia. In fact half of white medical trainees believe this bullshit.

We need to be eliminating bias, not outsourcing it to machines.

When you see people of color joining ICE or even the military ( if y’all really wanna go there), it’s because the U.S. education system is working as intended. The media machine is working as intended. Everyone is susceptible to ws propaganda.

The empty formalism used to constitutionally forbid diversity-enhancing or remedial action—that to “stop discriminating on the basis of race we must stop discriminating on the basis of race”—is possibly the most invidious trope the Roberts Court has cultivated in our modern legal culture.

I can be shaking and sobbing in pain and have people swear it’s rage

When Apple launched its first Apple Watch

I had to give many of the demos to my lighter coworkers because it couldn’t read the my blood pressure

And I have one of the most common skin tones on earth

Facial expressions common to all humans! 🙃
PainChek is one of these behavioral models, and it acts like a camera‑based thermometer, but for pain: A care worker opens the app and holds a phone 30 centimeters from a person’s face. For three seconds, a neural network looks for nine particular microscopic movements—upper‑lip raise, brow pinch, cheek tension, and so on—that research has linked most strongly to pain. Then the screen flashes a score of 0 to 42. “There’s a catalogue of ‘action‑unit codes’—facial expressions common to all humans. Nine of those are associated with pain,” explains Kreshnik Hoti, a senior research scientist with PainChek and a co-inventor of the device. This system is built directly on the foundation of FACS. After the scan, the app walks the user through a yes‑or‑no checklist of other signs, like groaning, “guarding,” and sleep disruption, and stores the result on a cloud dashboard that can show trends.

Savvy move. Celebs often don't realize you have to explicitly tell people not to steal your money or doing it is not illegal.
