I had to phone to get my student number for an application recently. Not used it since my last exam and on the phone I went “wait! Is it…” then reeled off the full thing which suddenly zapped back into my head.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

The fun thing about freelancing is when you have an incredibly stressful and exhausting couple of weeks you kind of feel like you don’t really have anyone to blame but yourself
