Spoke with a PI whose postdoc is trapped abroad because of social media vetting. It appears the postdoc missed disclosing one account and it's unclear if they can come back… ever.

This is the country we live in now.

I'm not saying it has to be a Muppet Show again. But there has been a Muppet Show-shaped hole in popular culture that demands to be filled.

"Tear it all down and rebuild from first principles" is a tack these people could take. A mystery they can't see that path.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

Interesting, but of course: "It’s worth noting that a C compiler is a near-ideal task for semi-autonomous AI model coding: The specification is decades old and well-defined, comprehensive test suites already exist, and there’s a known-good reference compiler to check against."

Reviewing video from Fulton County elections raid.

Taken aback by the dismissive & sneering attitude from FBI agents toward the cop politely asking to see the warrant.

Looked him up: He's an immigrant w/ a doctorate in philosophy. His thesis? "Force by police officers toward African Americans."

This is a horror story.

A Florida woman who lives paycheck to paycheck was fined over $100,000 for...parking on her own grass.

A judge ruled that wasn't "excessive." The Florida Supreme Court won't hear her case.

She's not even the first. A thread.

So, quick question for the White House: If the racist post was put up by a White House staffer, how many people are posting using the president's name? Who are they? Who approves their posts? And why should anyone take anything coming from his account as coming from him if he's just staffing it out?

Love how the presumption here is that the President doesn't know what he's sharing and that's fine and normal.

Sorry, no, if the President doesn't know what he's sending out then that is indisputable proof of gross incompetence, cognitive unfitness, or both.
The New York Times has finally covered the Trump video of Obama as an ape — and they are still providing cover for him. Fuck the Times.

Here's @rickhasen.bsky.social detailing the scenario in which Trump uses search warrant to seize ballot boxes in a contested 2026 locale. This is more worrisome than ICE at the polls. Hasen also suggests ways to act against this now.

It's harrowing stuff:
