Yeah....pretty much this! The things that I've been going through lately have been occasionally making me want to quit social media, but isolation rarely makes anything better! I've been fighting an awful artist block in the last few months, but I'm hoping to push through it soon and start posting!
I'm having a rough go of it lately, and have been thinking: everyone is going through something, and you have no idea what it is, or how it's affecting them.

it starts to extend to the treatment of real ppl where you're deemed a moral aberration for talking abt things that happen in the text. even just *acknowledging* those themes without expanding on them gets you put on a list. noticing themes at all is grounds for suspicion. it's anti-intellectual.

i feel like the setting of Fandom makes it really difficult to discuss characters at a deeper level especially when discussing darker themes present in the source material. fandom takes those discussions as explicit endorsements or shit-stirring - everything becomes hostile and overly personal

This is a really good point, and I don't want to take away from it because it is Just and Right, but I think it's important to note that you also don't need a justification to notice dark themes and/or enjoy them. You don't owe anyone an explanation
there's an attitude where if you notice something dark in the text, then you only noticed it because you're a pervert, that you've been somehow corrupted into finding a theme that shouldn't be there. it's never assumed that you notice these themes *because* you've experienced them irl.

I'm so sorry for the radio silence post-Tekko! Busy season picking up at work & personal projects have kept me stretched thin & the heat doesn't help😭 I do plan to start RE6 with Kaleb tomorrow (Fri) evening though. I want to try to beat it before I go on my annual hiatus mid-late August for work.

I'm ace, but even I realize how important it is to protect ero media. to conservatives, anything queer is porn. but even if they did theoretically stop at porn - which they won't - it's still important to protect it because ero media deserves to exist. it's a form of expression for people.
