Actually just now getting around to this. "Rapunzel" is an unexpected shock of nostalgia. I suddenly remember it all.
I am about to, for the first time in more years than I care to count, watch some of the adventures of Rocket J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose. (not the movie!)

Media is awesome because it can show an organization trying to get rid a guy who is underwater with state Democrats by 50 points, undermines any Democratic policy, and is just completely off-putting to anyone who has to spend five minutes around him; and they phrase it as “seeding discord”

SCOOP: Top Democrats in Pennsylvania are maneuvering to run against Sen. John Fetterman in a 2028 primary, threatening to tear the party apart in the biggest battleground state in the nation.
Scoop: Dems plot Fetterman ouster
He's still popular with Pennsylvania voters, even as Democrats turn on him.

On October 16, 1968, winning sprinters Tommie Smith and Dr. John Carlos raised their gloved fists during medal presentations at the 1968 Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City, while the national anthem was played. There were both immediate & long-lasting impacts to their protest. (more: alt text)
Tommie Smith, who won the gold medal for the men's 200-meter race at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, set a new world record, while John Carlos finished third to win the bronze medal.

Australian Peter Norman (seen at left) wore an Olympic Project for Human Rights pin, and stood in solidarity with their protest.

Both athletes planned to wear black gloves during their protest at the medal ceremony, but John Carlos accidentally left his gloves in the Olympic Village. They both shared Smith's gloves, one glove on the opposite hand they intended. Smith wore the right glove, symbolizing Black Power, while Carlos wore the left glove, which, when combined with Smith's, represented Black unity.

Smith and Carlos were immediately suspended from the U.S. team and expelled from the Olympics by the International Olympic Committee.

Upon returning to the United States, they were widely ostracized by the sporting establishment and faced intense criticism and abuse.

Their families received death threats and hate mail.

They were booed in the stadium during the ceremony and faced condemnation from many media outlets and their own schools and cities.

The salute became one of the most enduring images of protest in sports history, symbolizing a stand against racial inequality and police brutality.

The act has inspired subsequent athletes and activists to use their platforms for social justice, with Smith and Carlos becoming icons for the fight for equality.

While the immediate aftermath was harsh, their actions were eventually recognized for their significance. Both men received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in 2008, and they have been honored by organizations like the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee for their legacy.

Their protest helped bridge the gap between sports and civil rights, demonstrating that athletes could use their success on the world stage to advocate for human rights globally.
I like to think about possible duck movies, these two couples in the opening of a Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice remake for example.

I'm easily amused.
Two pairs of male and female Mallard ducks looking at a still pond atop a retaining wall with freshly mowed green grass behind them.
That's why I spend my mornings with ducks.

I'm one of a handful of critics who loved this movie, but I continued to be bewildered that Jared Leto ever had any power in Hollywood as an actor, producer, or anything else. He has an Oscar win, but his name has never guaranteed box office, and apparently he's quite a skeezy character IRL.
“Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter he earned high seven figures for the role, plus a seven-figure producing fee.”

I should do a blog post on this, but I’ll do a brief thread here, as it’s something in the comics industry that riles me up.

“No One Asked for This Reboot”: ‘Tron’ May Mark End of Jared Leto’s Franchise-Leading Days
As 'Ares' disappoints, insiders question whether the self-styled boundary-pushing A-lister can still be counted on to carry a franchise vehicle to the bank.

I think he was perfect for that role. Story is more interesting if the AI Adam gives off weird vibes or a blank slate. It expands potential storylines and also allows an audience to project their own fears/hopes onto Ares.
Dollars to donuts the idea came to him as he was playing with his poop.
I thought it was very good (I've seen it 3 times now) but not at Sinners level story wise. The adrenaline rush of the opening and later the car chase made up for a lot. Looking forward to your thoughts.

They finally wake up. We have a game.
Just saw it. I liked Brothers, it had a certain charm and was a specific moment in time. This was not good. There's got to be a hell of a story here. Showing for one night only, Warner Bros./Fathom distribution, and a paint by numbers rom-com script.
All I want is a single competitive LCS game. Hopefully tonight is the night.
