Very few stories of this type even attempt to present a positive case for the thing occurring! It’s almost always recognized as something plainly terrible, and maybe a token advocate in the final third will speechify how it’s actually Better This Way. I am finding this riveting.

ken paxton going after someone for securities fraud is fucking hilarious
After accusing its developers of violating securities laws and regulations in October, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against the East Plano Islamic Center.

Call me crazy but I really don't want to needlessly go through dialysis.
Babygirl, please, just hit the batting cages with a yellow Gatorade and a soft pretzel, you don’t need to be doing all this 😭

What an obsequious, toadying, servile, brown-nosing, corrupt little cunt Gianni Infantino is.

The FIFA 'peace prize' is the most cringe-worthy, pathetic thing I've ever seen in my life.

Football deserves better than this travesty of a ceremony and ruling body.

On the day of the World Cup draw, I beg people to consider the harm the tournament is going to do to so many people. The most vulnerable people in the host cities are going to suffer so much just because of some soccer, FIFA money laundering and Trump mugging for the camera.

The hepatitis B vaccine had been recommended for all newborns since 1991.

From 1990-2019, acute hepatitis B infections reported among children and teens fell 99 percent. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/16/w...
Breaking: After contentious debates and three failed attempts at a vote, a federal vaccine committee decided on Friday to end the decades-long recommendation that all newborns be immunized at birth against hepatitis B.

the other thing I find "funny" about media merger coverage is in addition to NO mention of the well-documented massive harms from pointless media consolidation (creatives, labor, consumers), mainstream journalists don't mention the fact our regulators have been lobotomized by corruption

"Today’s announcement will launch a long review period in which regulators, industry observers, analysts, and the companies themselves will determine how the deal ultimately takes shape." The Trumpers are getting rid of vaccines and pollution regulations, there's not gonna be any review period.

This is fantastic. After seeing it yesterday I have mixed opinions on TWBA v Parts 1&2
I wrote about why cutting Kill Bill in half might have cost Uma Thurman an Oscar, and how the new 4 1/2-hour version makes whole the greatest performance of her career.
Kill Bill Is Back in Theaters in a New Version. It’ll Never Play the Same.
The Whole Bloody Affair changed the way I saw Tarantino’s epic revenge film—and so did the reporting about its making.

The headline, the main takeaway from a European viewpoint is this:

The transatlantic relationship as we know it is over. Yes, we kinda knew this. But this is now official US White House policy. Not a sppech, not a statement. The West as it used to be no longer exists.
