New Jersey’s largest cities have been pushing for stronger police oversight for years. But state law currently forbids civilian boards from having any real power over police. Read my latest on where recent elections have left this impasse between cities and the state: boltsmag.org/new-jersey-c...
New Jersey Cities Are Pressing Resistant State Officials for Civilian Police Oversight - Bolts
Local officials in Newark, Jersey City, and Trenton want civilian agencies that can investigate police and issue subpoenas. But they keep running into the state’s Democratic leaders.

Today, House Republicans wasted committee time targeting the Southern Poverty Law Center, going after the organization’s finances and ties to Democratic administrations.

It’s stunning hypocrisy coming from the party of the Koch brothers and the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025.

I know many things are awful but here is one genuinely useful and helpful thing you can do. No matter their party, your representative needs to hear that trans people and our families are not alone and this bill is an unjustifiable and extreme threat to criminalize the health care we need to live.

Please help my friend and brother Mohamed if you can. He lost his land to the security buffer zone established in the cease fire and remains in the Al Mawasi camp in Gaza trying to keep his family alive.
Hi, Mohammed's friend here.

Today he sent me these before-and-after photos of his little farm. I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as me.

Please share and donate if you can. I know he's truly grateful for your continued support even through his current absence.
