Personally I these white men just need to assimilate to the real Indigenous values of America, responsible stewardship of land & use of resources, cooperative community governance, hospitality, honor of spirit, instead of refusing to relinquish their barbaric European culture, we'd be better off.
Trump is doing 95% of the shit the Declaration of Independence was written about so Miller was kind of spot on about importing the horrors of… England.

This makes me wonder on the ratio of modern astronomers compared to the enlightenment (dozens) and Babylonian (dozens but for millennia?)
About 100 billion humans have walked the Earth.

About 100 billion stars roam the Milky Way galaxy.

About 10,000 humans have ever been paid to study the stars (if anyone has better data let me know).

So, modern astronomers are each lucky to the tune of 1 in 10 million!

Dark. But accurate.
The guy shot two random people with a gun, I don't think you can say he wasn't assimilating into our culture
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, & homelessness is now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if political ideology doesn’t stand in the way.

I missed this the other day but it’s fascinating:
At the Amsterdam Museum, inspection of a painting from 1674 revealed one of the subjects has a tattoo on his wrist - the first ever seen in Dutch painting. Wessel Smits was born when a comet was in the sky, and probably got inked to commemorate it

Libraries aren't just books. They provide gathering places, free internet, and programs like story hours and classes and films. Using your library demonstrates to your local government its importance to your community and can affect funding decisions.

Libraries. Libraries are awesome. Librarians are awesome. Services and knowledge!
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

Sean Duffy, the U.S. transportation secretary, has been urging people for the past week to dress and comport themselves better as a way of restoring “civility” to air travel. On Tuesday, he added another item to his list of concerns: the quality of the snacks handed out on commercial flights.
