Chilling to imagine what Bari Weiss could be doing to CBS if she were smart
Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

We’re closing in on two decades of Republicans telling you, in no uncertain terms, that they do not care about kids being shot dead. In schools, in movie theaters, at church, in the street. They. Do. Not. Care. But hey, at least they’re good at racism and destroying the economy, amirite.

What's striking about Trump's lies, and those of his apologists, is that they're not even plausible. They don't try to be plausible. As others have noted, that's kind of the point. True authoritarian control and power is telling a blatant and obvious lie, and showing you can get away with it.
Q: Can you explain what's going on with the bandages on Trump's hand?

LEAVITT: We've given you an explanation. The president is literally constantly shaking hands.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

Theoretically, everyone deserves the right to do what they want to their own bodies.

But in practice, these laws lead to further devaluation of disabled lives. They invariably lead to people choosing MAID because they can't afford healthcare, cajoled into this cheaper choice by an uncaring system.

i mean, i find newsom discourse kind of silly because during the first couple of years of Trump I, Michael Avenatti was seen as a contender
Identity-pilled Democrats keep flipping around in circles and sometimes deciding that all it takes to be electable is to find a white man — should actually select from the wide range of proven swing state winners.

yeah this is the part of Nate-style popularism that bothers me the most - the idea that having principles is not smart and not savvy and generally beneath them

the result is treating public opinion as immutable because how can you change people’s minds if you don’t believe in anything yourself
like his complaint is literally that there are people who believe in things, believe those things are right, and believe in those things regardless of whether they are popular.
