I teach and write, but I mostly keep MA a little extra scary as the head organizer of the Boston Horror Society on Meetup and Facebook. Boo!

the INVISIBLE MAN is imho probably the best of the OG universal horror films. it is delightfully unhinged and the invisibility effect is still astonishing all of these years later
got a hankering to watch one of the best movies ever made
One of the fav movie rental experiences. This and The Cable Guy would make an ideal double feature.
One of the best cases of real life toxic disdain between 2 actors serving up incredible on-screen chemistry. Murray & Dreyfuss are both at the top of their game in this two-man descent into manic comedy chaos. Leonard Maltin was right: This is like a Wile E. Coyote & Roadrunner cartoon come to life.
As should be no surprise, @mitpress.bsky.social bookstore has an impressive display of books for October. 📚
Last night's performance of Evil Dead in Concert at The Cabot in Beverly was groovy! #evildeadinconcert

I will say the thing that AI does really well is emulate that precise feeling of meeting someone new, and they seem amiable and pretty verbose, but over the course of the conversation you start to realize that they’re very stupid.
Last night's screening of the '88 version of The Blob by @thecoolidge.bsky.social was a lot of fun. Saw plenty of familiar faces at the Rose Kennedy Greenway, the presentation on the Great Molasses Food was informative, and Ripley attended her 1st Boston Horror Society event!
One of the few positives things of the pandemic was being stuck inside, and watching a bunch of movies I had been putting off on seeing. Black Dynamite was one of them. It lived up to the hype.

Horror anthologies are my jam. Whether it is a book or film, all you need is those one or two gems in the collection to justify any of the lesser stories. On that note, Terror Tract (2000) deserves more love. A pre-Breaking Bad Bryan Cranston vs. a killer monkey. 🙊

The Sears Tower experiencing a blackout:
A week has passed since Camp Necon 43 ended. If a horror literature con merged with a family reunion, that's Necon in a nutshell. Can't say enough wonderful things about it. 📚🦇🍻

And one final thought: Ozzy going out after giving an emotional final performance that raised a ton of money for charity is more spiritually uplifting and did more genuine good than anything any televangelist and religious grifter who railed against him ever did combined.
Things got weird Tuesday night. #WeirdAl

Re: last repost, if you're looking for a feel-bad, anti-patriotic movie to counter-program this 4th of July, you can do much worse than Brian De Palma's BLOW OUT (1981).

🎃 Remember Monster Planet?!

Back in 1995, cult icon Reed Richmond hosted a weird 'lil Halloween special on witches, werewolves, & more.

Thought lost— it's finally available again, and first run comes with a spooky punk zine from back in the day.

Link in my bio. October in my heart. LET'S RAGE
If you celebrate it, Happy #Jaws Day! 🦈
The best news you can get after attending a con over the weekend. 🥳 #StokerCon
If there is one memory me and Gillian Daniels will take with us from #StokerCon, it will be the birds. Both the lobby art and the real ones that visited the hotel windows too often.😬
Congrats to @emilyhughes.bsky.social on winning a Stoker Award for her book Horror for Weenies! #StokerCon
Ready for my second day of #StokerCon. Gonna head to the dealer's room to see if i can find some Sutter Cane books.
