Not only is this happening, but even worse, a lot of vulnerable people don’t know people with stable status of their own who can take care of their kids.
Some immigrant parents, fearful of their children facing similar uncertainty if they were to be arrested, detained or deported are taking the extreme step of legally transferring parental authority to teachers, co-workers, fellow parishioners and neighbors.
Fearing ICE, parents make plans for their children’s care
Some families give legal authority to others to make key decisions about a child’s life if a parent is detained and deported.

i’ve had a few conversations about the perceived target nba players might worry they’d become if they spoke out which, while not unfounded, i have a hard time squaring when queer women with much less financial insulation are saying it out loud

Completely insane. AltNPS claimed to know the name of Alex Pretti's killer, refused to say it because "the truth always comes out," and then just deleted the post.

Carter was as monstrous as the rest of them as figurehead of the machine, but he's one of maybe a handful in the country's history who seemed to feel at least some of the weight of that on his soul and spent several decades as a very old man building houses for poor people and arguing against war.
