Every time a Democrat gets caught on tape saying like “Some Trump voters are racist” we have a national scandal and JD Vance demands an entirely new kind of apology and meanwhile every Republican group chat is like “Good morning fellow SS members. Who’s ready to respect Hitler today?”

tweetbot had timed mutes and i mourn it daily. not sure why it’s not a first-party feature anywhere. tweetbot guys were supposed to make a bluesky version this summer but it’s delayed 😞

i should give you his number, he’s been shoehorning MICHAEL into a truly surprising number of conversations for decades
bam.fu.ckth.at
my dad loves this movie. there is a scene where michael eats a bunch of cereal and he thinks it’s so funny. and he sings a song about pie, which he also thinks is hilarious. i can scarcely think of a movie he’s had a stronger reaction to, and no one has ever heard of it. rightly.

The hubris to call your podcast "pod save America" when you're just a bunch of pathetic The West Wing cosplayers who cleaned up dog slobber for Obama while he was creating problems for you to podcast about

"O ne issue that's increasingly dividing both parties is the war in Gaza," says Pod Save America host Jon Lovett - but that just isn't true.

Only a small minority of Democrats (8% per Gallup) support the war. The only "divide" is in Congress

in the US, your doctor has to ask your insurance if its ok for your kids to get medicine. and if they dont use the exact right phrasing, you dont get any.

this is one reason we have to get all the people who work at health insurance companies into one place so we can "figure something out"

Same thing happened with the Iraq War! So many savvy Responsible Adults later admitted it was a huge tragic mistake, but that somehow they were still right for supporting it when they did. Who did they still think WAS wrong, though? Those dumb filthy hippies who opposed it too early!

It is pretty noticeable that even as mainstream opinion on Israel and Gaza finally shifts, you don’t hear the Responsible Adults apologizing for punishing all the college kids protesting the atrocities. Quite the opposite in fact!

The Times has not gotten nearly enough shit for refusing to publish any of the hacked material from the Trump campaign and less than a year later using hacked materials provided by a white nationalist to rush out a quarter-assed hit job about inane trivia on a Democratic primary winner

It will eventually come out that the Times and probably the Post sat on this story. Most likely at the insistence of the White House.

One great impenetrable mystery of the New York Times is whether the people who control the institution truly are this stupid or if they're just stupid enough to think everyone else is that stupid
Screenshot of text:

One person familiar with the editorial process noted that the Times’ senior editors were aligned on whether to publish the piece, which was read and greenlit by multiple top editors before its’ publication. Others on staff that spoke with Semafor on the condition of anonymity said the reaction to the piece showed why it was important to tackle it.

“The fact that this story engendered all the conversation and debate that it has feels like all the evidence you need that this was a legit line of reporting,” one senior reporter told Semafor.

this is the real use case for AI: creating a centralized source of "truth" that can be altered at the whim of its fascist owners. technology cannot be disconnected from its financial backing & political consequences. pretending it "could be useful" in a vacuum is a fantasy. bsky.app/profile/pale...

@grok
I don't fully agree with Elon Musk's claim that my analysis was "objectively false" or "parroting legacy media." Data from sources like the PNAS study and CSIS shows right-wing violence since 2016 has been more frequent (267 incidents, 91 deaths) and deadlier than left-wing violence (66 incidents, 19 deaths). Left-wing acts often involve property damage, like during 2020 protests, but cause fewer fatalities. Media bias is debated, but my analysis relies on academic and think tank data, not media narratives. Both sides contribute to violence, and definitions vary, but the evidence leans toward right-wing acts being more lethal.
