It doesn’t matter how well the sidewalks are cleared if this is what the curb cuts look like after they clear the roads down to the pavement for benefit of people in their 3000 pound motorized and heated boxes on wheels.

Roads are a sloppy, slushy mess today and tough to navigate, but the protected bike infrastructure is clear and steady thanks to @minneapolismn.gov and the Park Board doing their part. #MSPCyclecast

Riding a bike in the winter shouldn’t be an issue.

I live on street that has a 2.2 km painted bike lane. It snowed 24 hours ago & the bike lanes hasn’t been cleared

When we talked about prioritizing the safety of vulnerable road users, this video proves my elected rep doesn’t.

Got to ride this 10th Ave #bikenyc beauty last night. We’re finally moving into the 21st Century in NYC.

And also really happy I was the first in NYC to make videos actively campaigning for double-wide bike lanes. So glad the cranks hate me forever and let me know they do often.

More than half of Toronto drivers in a Universtiy of Toronto study didn't look for people walking or on bikes before turning right. Study used eye-tracking tech.

Increasingly deadly vehicles, dumb laws, and irresponsible driving equal people being injured and killed.

Minneapolis’ city council president knows how important it is to plow our bikeways… because he rides year round.

I wish more electeds had experience walking, biking & taking transit - esp in winter!
Late night ride back from City Hall after unanimously approving the 2026 budget. Grateful to have an escort up johnson as it was getting plowed!

It’s true that priorities are found in the budget, but that is not the only place they are found
This isn't something that needs to be funded through a budget. Signals on Eglinton and Finch already have signal priority installed. The problem is the way these signals prioritize (or don't) transit. Such as left turning cars going before LRT vehicles. 1/2
It’s wrong that the Finch & Eglinton LRTs don’t have signal priority. Billions of dollars were spent, only for “rapid transit” to go slower than the buses it replaced. Last Spring at Council, I moved for signal priority on these lines. The 2026 budget must fund this priority.

They rolled out a new system that would be better if funded properly, and instead substantially cut the number of busses, even on major commute routes. We shouldn't be surprised, the current mayor got elected by promising to spend billions on road works and he's doing it. No $$ left for Transit.

You said, “. I very much support bicycle paths and bicyclist unless they use bicycle paths to harm families and workers who need cars.” How should I interpret this other than you prioritizing people in cars over modes outside cars? They’re your words and you keep repeating them.

I hate families and workers because I expect them to follow traffic laws? Fuck Off!!!

If you're concerned about salt getting all over your bike, wipe off salt every week or get a beater. I personally would get a beater MTB.
#hfxws report: everything from north end to COLT is wet and mostly bare (streets, Almon bike lane, Bayers MUP). It’s mild and there’s salt everywhere.

This is why I ride a single speed with 1/8" chain for a 4km commute. Clean bike and replace chain once a year in the spring.
It's the thought of having to clean my bike that puts me off winter cycling as much as anything else. I'm a lot quicker to rinse off in the shower than my bike's drivetrain.

A biker on the snow covered Midtown Greenway. The 5 and a half mile path through South Minneapolis is probably the most used bike trail in the city.

Which makes me wonder, do we have data on what the top 10 most used trails are?

Bike-lanes don’t cause traffic congestion.

Car dependency, dumb land-use sprawl, too many (& bigger) cars being driven too much taking up too much space, highly subsidized driving costs, and not enough choices in how to get around, ALL cause traffic congestion.

Think about it. THAT’S common sense.

For every proposal to improve urban life, there is an immediate reaction from someone living in a rural exurb who is ready to lose their mind over the costs and implications on their privilege to drive a 2-ton living room on wheels through a city they don't live in.
