I have no idea what to make of the Trump-Mamdani meeting or the announcement from Marjorie Taylor Greene, but they should be a clear reminder of the importance of contingency in historical events.

Why aren't people protesting every week?

Asked by people who don't protest. It's so damned annoying.

ALSO people ARE protesting weekly. Why the hell don't you join them????

The dude who singlehandedly controls the government is demanding it pay him a quarter of a billion dollars of our tax money as restitution for having been caught committing crimes.
President Trump is demanding that the Justice Department pay him about $230 million in compensation for the federal investigations into him.

Whether he gets paid will ultimately be up to DOJ's second-in-command, who was recently his personal lawyer.

Because of its hierarchical nature, the military is not traditionally seen as in institution that imparts the types of civic skills necessary to lead political change.

Eager to read this and see if that generalization mischaracterizes the skills needed/obtained by Black service members.
With the Voting Rights Act on the line and open hostility to Black military personnel, this new paper with Tom Koch and John Parman is more timely than ever. “Homefront: Black Servicemembers and Black Voters in the Civil Rights Era” Southern Economic Journal onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Seems like data worth centralizing
Serious question: has the Fed govt ever arrested so many elected officials in such a short period of time, across multiple cities, and not for legit corruption reasons?

This seems like a distinct degree of anti-democratic escalation.
ICE just blatantly violated the law and arrested sitting Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes while seeking to illegally arrest a patient in a hospital. Fuck these fascists.
