A Mariners fan on Reddit went crying to the mods when I said that they can’t call themselves classy when they cheered Jose Altuve getting hit in the head on their subreddit. Got me banned on the Astros sub. Just a bunch of weenies.
Listened to Bloom while taking my lunch walk. Since I can’t take a picture of my audiobook while listening here is a picture of downtown. #RootRootRead
For read for 30 uninterrupted minutes I am working on Heir to the Jedi. I’d be lying if I said I was enjoying it. #RootRootRead
Next #RootRootRead was book with one word title, so I listened to Bloom by @delilahsdawson.bsky.social. If you need a “what in the fuckity-fuck” read, this is for you. A perfect Halloween book. Just don’t be an idiot and finish it right before bed like I did.
So I’ve started my offseason #RootRootRead journey. First up was book checked out from the library. The Outsider by @stephenking.bsky.social was another stop on my Holly Gibney journey. She is a character I have come to enjoy very much.

Baseball really is the best sport because all it takes is one little bobble and suddenly a game built on routine and order devolves into panic and chaos

I know that one asshole is NOT cosplaying The Doctor. He better not be.
On a very basic level, how dare the drivers of Houston have something pretty to look at while driving around. We only deserve pot holes and crumbling streets, I guess. Also fuck Greg Abbott.
One time I forgot I had to write a 5 page paper on Richard III with less than 4 hours before class it was for started. Got an A. Another time my computer failed to save over half of a ten page paper for my film studies class. Turned it in with the paper still warm. Got an A.
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
It’s not often you get you favorite poem read by one of the greatest voices to ever exist. In honor of Halloween month, The Raven as read by James Earl Jones as interpreted by The Simpsons

As someone currently reading The Outsider by Stephen King, I got real excited for a second. I haven’t read The OutsiderS since middle school. Looking forward to a reread. Can’t wait to get started, some great squares there.
So many parents suffer from this delusion and I don’t understand it.

The government is officially shut down. Make no mistake: Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This is THEIR shutdown. They had every tool to govern and chose chaos instead. The American people are the ones paying the price.
I can’t stand the sing-songiness. It makes me insane.
Glad to hear this! My sister is a WWII aficionado so I bought this for her birthday next month. Sounds like she will like it.
Thanks as always to @itsallaboutde.bsky.social. Can’t wait to see what our off season #RootRootRead suggestions will be!
And lastly, The Bullet Swallower, a book about dealing with the legacies our ancestors leave us for us. An intriguing read for book that’s a Western. #RootRootRead
Next was book written in the 80s. I picked The War of the Roses, a book about two assholes that deserved their fate. Didn’t really like this book but felt compelled to finish it. #RootRootRead
For book with mostly blue cover, I read Lilian’s Invincible Summer, a book that serves a memorial to a young woman who was murdered by her abusive boyfriend. Very sad, but beautifully written and can hopefully help other women avoid Liliana’s fate. #RootRootRead
