Listened to Bloom while taking my lunch walk. Since I can’t take a picture of my audiobook while listening here is a picture of downtown. #RootRootRead

Next #RootRootRead was book with one word title, so I listened to Bloom by @delilahsdawson.bsky.social. If you need a “what in the fuckity-fuck” read, this is for you. A perfect Halloween book. Just don’t be an idiot and finish it right before bed like I did.

So I’ve started my offseason #RootRootRead journey. First up was book checked out from the library. The Outsider by @stephenking.bsky.social was another stop on my Holly Gibney journey. She is a character I have come to enjoy very much.

Finished this last week while on vacation. A fictionalized account of the only children from the orphanage on Galveston Island to survive the 1900 storm. Well-written and moving, grim but uplifting. #RootRootRead

Hiking the Camino has been on my bucket list for a while, so I was primed to enjoy this multigenerational tale of adventure on the trail. It mostly didn't disappoint, even though the denouement seemed rushed. #RootRootRead 1/6

Let’s talk books! I read The Reading List a few years ago and it was WONDERFUL! It was about a list of books that were life-changing or healing.
Share your top 5 books that changed you or made you feel some way. Include #RootRootRead with your list!

This year has been a national, global and personal disaster and my social media presence has been really crappy and that means I neglected #RootRootRead too. I hate that because I LOVED creating this all these years! It’s been so fun to read along with you all….

For book with mostly blue cover, I read Lilian’s Invincible Summer, a book that serves a memorial to a young woman who was murdered by her abusive boyfriend. Very sad, but beautifully written and can hopefully help other women avoid Liliana’s fate. #RootRootRead

I also finished Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor, a story of a Nigerian American author who achieves fame writing a post apocalyptic sci-fi novel. Really enjoyed the twisting nature of the story but I'm still pondering how I feel about the ending #RootRootRead

I read Human Acts, by Han Kang, Nobel Prize winner in 2024. It told of the Gwangju Pro-democracy Uprising and resulting massacre in S. Korea in 1980 through a series of interconnected stories revolving around the death of a young boy. A haunting read on a topic I knew nothing about. #Rootrootread
