Everyone in the West wants Palestine to be a "de-militarized" state because their overarching ambition is to keep Israel content and to maintain the supremacy of the US regional "security" architecture, likewise it seems people think UKR should only have arms if other people have a veto over them.

It is somewhat amusing how wedded people across the spectrum of left of center in the West are to the idea of "non militarization" or "de-militarization" as part of the maintenance of a peace framework.
With respect what in gods gravy is a “non-militarised European security framework” and how would it stop 300 shahed drones bombing a city
The Green Party condemns Russia’s invasion, backs Ukraine’s sovereignty, and urges peace talks. It opposes NATO expansion and supports replacing NATO with a cooperative, non-militarised European security framework 💚

the funniest thing about those memes has to be that the people paying the most tax are objectively least likely to vote for the right

What does it say about the state of Civ-Mil relations in Israel that a flag officer, on purely moral grounds, illegally authorized the leak a video of IDF prison guards literally sodomizing a detainee within an inch of his life...and the govt characterized it as a PR attack on Israel's image

I’m seeing people saying “ah, they’re all just revealing who they were all the time” and it’s simply nonsense.

I’ve seen people I know radicalise online and they genuinely weren’t like this before.
people who were tory candidates 2 years ago are now posting stuff that would be banned in germany
it's kind of bleak watching the UK right-wing radicalize itself on X in real time

it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people

if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops

London as small town:
Did you happen to leave your @londonreviewbookshop.co.uk purchases on the Metropolitan line yesterday?

Did one of your friends do this and send an anguished message to the group chat?

If so, Darren has just done you a very good turn. 👇
If anyone lost a bag of books from LRB Bookshop on the Metropolitan Line between Baker St- Watford, I handed it to a cleaner when the train terminated at Watford tube station. And if you have far more followers than me, please share this status. LRB bookshop is not cheap!

I recall around 1990 an elderly supply teacher explaining to my class what war is actually like, macho mythology aside. The sound bullets make. Men crying for their mummys as they die on the battlefield. It's haunted me ever since, and certainly played a role in politicising me.
As a teen or young adult in the 1990s you had constant encounters with people in their 50s-80s who were combatants, victims or perpetrators during catastrophes of the mid-20th century

That direct link to realities of Nazism and other forms of oppression such as Stalinism or colonialism is now gone

A trick Mamdani has mastered is seeming positive even when attacking Cuomo by having it come out of nowhere. You’ll watch him being asked his favorite Halloween candy and he’ll say “I love skittles haha, guilty as charged, of course not guilty of killing people in nursing homes, M&Ms are also great”

Studies have shown that only 1 out of 5 Americans can correctly answer the question “Are you allowed to kill people with your car”
I — yes? what do you think is supposed to happen in the situation you describe?
oh you’re so lovely yoga 💖

Hi Lisa Nandy! I’m a BAFTA winner from a small town. Instead of asinine questions like this, why not tell us how we can continue to make a living in the eviscerated creative sector over which you notionally preside?

It‘s still three years until the next national election, the Nazis are leading several polls, and you’ve got fascists in the middle of Berlin acting like this. Good luck, Germany, if you’re trying to attract a sufficient number of non-white migrants to boost your economy. Good luck: you’ll need it.
The Nazis in Berlin are getting bolder: I saw one of them on the tram home this evening, a guy in his early twenties, who stared at me and smirked before looking away. it’s incredible how Germany has looked on as so many young people have drifted into this hate cult. It’s a betrayal, to be honest.

When Christian Calgie uses "mental health" as a two-word deflection to get himself out of a hole and then sweeps back in days later to resume being a cunt, you can see why the Right just thinks all mental health disability claims are fake until proven otherwise.

The accusation is the admission.

Conservatives have today ditched their Mass Deportation Bill, 5 months after Chris Philip tabled it in the Commons, but a week after it was dubbed the Idi Amin Tribute Act, as it proposed Deportations of settled & legal migrants on a scale never seen since 1972 & never proposed in a democracy before

Voters really don't like inflation, and frankly everything else is secondary to that.

Yes, a Reform government will be massively unpopular very quickly. But it will not matter. It will be too late.
We now face the very real prospect of a party coming to government on 27% of the vote and then dismantling the flimsy firewalls protecting the UK's democracy to ensure it never loses power again. No ECHR, no independent judiciary or Electoral Commission, no broadcast impartiality rules etc etc.
My Seat Projection [usual 'it's just one poll' caveat]:

LAB: 74 (-337)
SNP: 46 (+37)
GRN: 42 (+38)
CON: 38 (-83)
PLC: 7 (+3)
Others: 12 (+7)
