I will never understand people who can freehand fiber crafts projects, but thank goodness for them or we wouldn’t get magic like these froggie feet!
behold! froggy feet!

no pattern, free handed waffle stitch on the bottom and i think double crochet everywhere else. added a little floral wire to the toes so they don’t get too floppy

ty to @riotousmuse.bsky.social for humoring my goofy ass 💕

And the corollary to that:

When you find out a word you've been using casually is actually hateful or terrible, the correct response is to stop using it, not go "Well, it doesn't mean that to me!"

I don’t think most patients nor doctors realize that their conversations are now often being recorded by AI scribes with their default consent, permanently stored and used by AI companies, and are accessible to hospitals and practice groups and also easily searchable for sensitive information.

One thing I say as a half joke is that the thing about policing in the Twin Cities is not that one city’s dept is better or worse than the other (bc abolitionist) but that the two cities alternate which one’s dept is having a visible PR problem at any given moment.

This is why OpenAI is selling so aggressively to education at all levels—they want to create entire generations of users incapable of reading, writing and thinking without ChatGPT to hold their hands

And teachers and professors should call this out for what it actually is
To bear out this rosy projection, HSBC assumes that OpenAI will become "as ubiquitous [...] as Microsoft 365" (345mm users worldwide) while bringing in 10x the number of users (3bn).

big late breaking news: the market monitor for the largest energy grid in the u.s., covering much of the midwest and mid-atlantic, has called to block new data centers connections to the grid, saying current course of growth assures regular blackouts
No more PJM data centers unless they can be reliably served: market monitor
The PJM Interconnection’s market monitor urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule that large data centers can only come online if the grid operator can still meet reliability metrics.

Bari Weiss made his home a target, and they killed Dr. Alareer, his sister, her 3 children, his brother and that brother's son.
Bari Weiss is a proud propagandist for racist murder.
Remember what Dr. Refaat Alareer told us about Bari Weiss.

What if we thought of journalism as community service?

@terryparrisjr.bsky.social is doing exactly that with his project to set up journalism practices in local libraries. This is exactly the experimentation we need to increase civic information and public accountability.
My @jskstanford.bsky.social year at Stanford centers on one question: What grows when you build a community newsroom inside a public library? I've been testing it in Brooklyn neighborhood. It's works.

We can do this in the 16,000+ library buildings in the U.S. Seriously.

Sir, any 14 year-old with a cell phone could “monitor” the situation. We needed you to do something. Call @govpritzker.illinois.gov and make an actual plan please. This will happen again.
We are monitoring the situation in St. Paul and working to understand what unfolded. We received no heads up from federal authorities on this operation.

While we are always willing to work together on public safety, that is clearly not what this chaotic situation was about.

There is never any other answer except abolish the police. Look how they’re staring right in the face of a photojournalist and aiming at him. Jesus Christ.

Monitoring? That’s it? Are you committed to publicly supporting the sanctuary state legislation? Restoring the healthcare you stripped away from undocumented immigrants who are adults? Banning the egregious human rights violations we saw today? Thought so.

PEN offered not a dollar or an ounce of support for the work we've published by incarcerated writers. This is disgusting & honestly, mad disrespectful

What a beautiful reflection on world-shattering grief.
My sister died unexpectedly "around this week" 8 years ago now. I do not remember the exact day. I can remember so many things, so many dates, so many numbers. But I can never remember the *exact date.* Maybe because it was around Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving always falls on different dates.
