D&D CROWDSOURCING:

Favorite extra mechanic to make Big Boss fights interesting (and less of a slog)?
multiple fight stages (like in video games)!

BB minion behavior (run away in fear! Barbarian rage! Betrayal! Guards showing up!). Environment changes / damage / pve elements. Info reveals (Hostages!)

I’m a believer in custom stat blocks, esp with experienced players who “know” boss moves.
😬 That sounds utterly miserable. I’m so sorry - hope the sleep helped and you continue to recover.

The existence of Attic Greek implies the existence of Basement Greek.

Thank you for coming to my TED talktalk.
[I’m currently] imagining Don Carson and Origen discussing how to properly exegete Psalm 137. That would be a podcast worth listening to.

Today I feel the tension.

Caught between a progressivism that contests several of my foundational beliefs as a Christ follower, and a populism that seeks to commodify and prostitute those same beliefs for grotesque ends.

But today I embrace the tension.

Witness is more important than winning.
why does tesseract OCR always get κἄν wrong? it never, ever, sees the accents. whyyyy...
(I really wonder if the training data is missing it or smth)
- I’m not willing to leave her over political differences that imo are mostly the result of bad cultural norms and deception rather than intentional malice. But I struggle with the tension: when to keep silent, when to speak. I try to look for opportunities where I think people will actually listen.
Special needs make everything so much harder. Esp. if the congregation isn’t very understanding of the challenges involved.

I’ve been thinking a lot about German Christians in the 30s. What’s the right call to make and when and why? For now, my local church/fellowship is too precious -
I really struggle to know when to engage vs. step away vs. tolerate. Esp. with people who are/were friends or church members. (& I live in ND where maga is somewhat of a default)

& there's so much "if you're not for you're against" now that my mildest critiques get taken as attacks.
same.
altho I kinda like being a silly person 🤔
giant frozen coffee ice cubes are a game changer and I can't believe I haven't tried this before. No more diluted watery sludge at the bottom of the iced latte!

TWICE in the last week I've tried to track down a footnote source and found the pdf available on archive.org but only in Latin (and apparently no translation exists anywhere). I don't particularly care to learn Latin but apparently Latin wants me 😬

For you original language wonks, America is going from knowing (epistamai) fascism is evil to knowing (ginōskō) fascism is evil.
really digging Horizons/West!
Reminds me in a good way of the Alchemy Index (Air/Water).
I think with WASM it's pretty similar for the browser-loaded piece, and you can certainly also query a cloud-based db (e.g. sitting in S3 or something). That's not even using motherduck which I believe is more of a paid product.

It's not perfectly identical but I think the end result is similar.
have you heard the gospel of duckdb?
me (fuming): imagine if someone gave you an eggbeater with no handle
jimmy (confused): like the crank kind?
me: yeah with the crank part still but no handle for your left hand
jimmy: *makes right hand flailing circular motions* woOOo!wooOOo!
me: anyway that's how I feel about this API

staying with friends who have a cat and I now understand the "trapped by a cat sitting on you" posts
you could try something like gImageReader that's a gui wrapper for Tesseract. It's worked pretty well for me in the past!
