Did they actually plan ANYTHING whilst in opposition? Were there any meetings at which they discussed having a sensible policy position on ANY particular topic? Or did they just hold meetings in small rooms above pubs, where they all sat round in a circle and took it in turns to say "ming vase"?

As Starmer said, there will never be a Starmerism. So there's no need to theorise the man either. Occam's Razor - he's just mediocre and in the wrong job.
Ditto his move from “No, Brexit can’t be stopped” in 2017 to “with an option to Remain”. But increasingly I think the more low-effort take of “he just blows with the wind” is a better explanation.

So a paradox I've observed living in Thailand is it is simultaneously one of the most nationalist countries in existence *and* a deeply multi-ethnic and multi-religious society
