On with the #nonfictionnovember spotlights, this thread highlights #culture essays and articles I'm particularly proud of, starting with this article for @artreview.bsky.social on the contributions of female writers to contemporary wuxia fiction, both literary and perspectives. #nonfiction 1/

We've got a 3D printed and hand-painted castle dice tower for #rollfornoodles, which looks amazing. I also suggested making a pagoda one at a later point, because, aren't they just marvellous in fantasy Cdrama? #popculture #game #fantasy #dnd

I'll be at Dragonmeet tomorrow, just as an attendee, but if you've got a game you think I'd be interested in, or want to talk about jiangshi, swordsmen, Chinese gods or what the CNSA do with terraforming, drop me a message!

My #SFF curations get more traction, but I'm primarily a nonfiction author. During #nonfictionnovember, I'm spotlighting this output. Starting with #books. This sociocultural guide to deities was a crazy endeavour of telling the stories of 60, I'm delighted with its wide and lasting impact. 1/

Chinese Myths, a book for those who are new to China's amazing pantheons and supernatural bestiaries, want to find out more or get a broad overview. Also fun to dip into if you want to read about things you've come across in Cdramas, movies and games. #culture 3/

Hi, I spent 10+ years researching all sorts of PC RPGs: AAAs, indies, RPG Maker, non-English, etc. Together with 167 volunteers, I created/edited The CRPG Book: crpgbook.wordpress.com

You can download it for free, or buy a hardcover edition from Bitmap Books - ALL author's revenue goes to charity!❤️

As someone who until his 30s knew nothing of Chinese culture besides Romance of the Three Kingdoms / Dynasty Warriors, I can confirm this book is super helpful.

As more Chinese games, books, movies & TV shows finally reach us, it's rewarding to learn these stories and get the culture behind them :)

荒野之国,Land of Wilderness, a privately built theme park in Yunnan has sparked controversy for some of its constructions, which are rather nightmarish. Created by the artist Qiao Xiaodao inspired by childhood memories and fairytales for his daughter, 1/

Big news for Xueting enjoyers today.
Sunday started with a bang, as I woke up to this from the director of MUFANT, who was excited to see Sinofagia (Sinophagia Italian ed.) and our Chinese horror event covered at length by one of the city's major papers, Corriere Torino, who had requested an interview with me. 1/

Had a couple of hours yesterday morning to walk around the wondrous city of Turin, and try its signature chocolate and coffee drink, before heading off to the amazing MUFANT, museum of the fantastic.

I'm travelling back from Turin, but I wanted to welcome you to the 7th episode of #rollfornoodles. Where let the dice decide my dinner. This week's roll shaped up to be one of the tastiest of the series so far, and even tempted out a house recipe. So join me, in a bowl! #dnd

This is the result of a conversation on Instagram after I sent out a request for what kind of wuxia stuff people wanted me to talk about while I'm writing the book. One great question that came up was What is Jianghu? Well, the "Rivers and Lakes" have meant many different things, and all of them!

The recording of ghost stories is an essential part of Chinese cultures. Pu Songling's compilation was one of a long line of records of the strange, the spooky, and the supernatural. I'll be at MUFANT in Turin to talk about this and sign Italian copies of Sinophagia!
