it's really fucking weird to me that my core politics of "we should try to help everyone live comfortably" is seen as more reactionary & extremist than "fuck everyone else but me"

There's no "regular politics" anymore because you can no longer maintain the idea that we all agree on common goals but we only differ about the means of getting there or whatever. The guys in charge now are plainly amoral, sadistic nihilists. They delight in it! You can't civilly disagree with that

This is going to be a major shift in the political economy of news media. How it plays out, is resisted and embraced, is going to change how populations perceive and understand their world in subtle but critical ways. One day after another. @technihilism.bsky.social

Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum is *very* good
Superman is standing behind Batman, who is sitting at the bat-computer.

Superman: Just consider it for a second. We're completely in the dark here...

Batman: You're only reinforcing my point. Humor me, *Dr Kent*...what would be *your* scientifically sound suggestion to *how we handle* the urgent matter of these new, *possibly deadly* kryptonites?

Superman: ...you need to test them on me. One by one...

Posters by Japanese designer Koichi Sato, 1970s-90s.
Poster with the imprint of a hand outlined in blue over a white background. The interior of the palm and fingers is black with constellations, and a pink grid and labels are placed over the image. Poster with an abstract image of blue-to-pink gradient inside a tall rectangle, outlined by a frame with a yellow, blue, orange, and pink gradient. Pale white squiggles are moving over the entire image. Poster with an illustration of a figure in silhouette with dragonfly wings, floating over a white expanse with a black sky. Poster with a dark image of a woman with long hair falling over her face, mostly obscured by shadow, with columns of text on the left and right edges.

GenAI truly was the worst technology to come along at this moment.

An energy and water guzzler when we most urgently need to take climate action.

A disinformation machine as our journalism fails.

A bias machine as fascism takes root.

A job killer in a cost of living crisis.

The "cognitive decline and brain damage from repeat COVID infections" and "easy to use robot that makes slop and melts your critical thinking skills" is a hell of a combo in a post-fact media ecosystem

like, really *really* very good
Superman, flying off: I promised Jimmy I'd always answer that watch... and I'm not in the habit of breaking my promises.

Batman, looking up and with his mask off: That's some really heartwarming kindergarten logic...but your *brain is sick*, Clark. Batman: Get it together, Superman...I can't stop Grundy *and* save bystanders at the same time. *Can I count on you?*

Superman: Always...let's go.

More folks should check out The Dark Eye, an adventure game from 1995. The game uses stop motion animation to tell stories by Edgar Allen Poe and features narration by William S Burroughs. Playable in ScummVM too!

it's beyond fucking tiring that a party with an obsession for holding people accountable for every single cent of welfare payments is handing out "how to crime" guides to their fucking employees #auspol

The Albanese govt’s first term was the second most secretive on record.

Rather than changing their ways, they’re doubling down and tightening our FOI system to make it even harder to get information. Not a single expert or member of parliament outside of the Labor party has backed their new bill.

Creating fake "proof" of something that is true/real makes people doubt all other evidence of it more, undermining the exact thing you are supposedly contributing to. What a farce.
