Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

Jesus Christ, even *after recording* I'm having to rewrite this Jimmy Cliff episode. For an episode that's so straightforward (this is one of the simplest stories this year) it's been a *hell* of a lot of faff. And at one point tonight I literally wondered if I was going mad.

So now I've got to go and investigate how that happened, and rewrite and rerecord parts thirty-five and thirty-six of this eighty-five-part episode, before going on to edit the next fifty music clips.

Do you think we could aspire to not be racist?
Could we aspire to think there is more to life than profit?
Could we aspire to thinking a habitable environment is worth investment?
Could we aspire to think beyond the car and the atomised individual that drives it?
May we still aspire to empathy?

The equation for a left-wing government in NZ is Labour 40% + Greens 10% (or some variant thereof).

Last election, Labour didn't deliver their end, and so ended up in opposition. They seem to be gearing up to do the same again this time.
