Lover of books, plants, puzzles, pets, and democracy. Really just wanting to have interesting convos about all the things. In my crone era. 📚❤️✨️🍃♏️
So excited about our new limited podcast series! It's called "OK, But Why" and it covers all the topics you've been googling lately!

The first episode just came out this week and it's about voting rights. It's only 10 minutes and packs in a lot of great info!

I've said it a million times, y'all. Ignore what he says. Pay attention to what he does. That goes for all of them.

When I was first starting out in my career, working on a project in Chicago, I went out for drinks with some colleagues after work.

"Defenders of democracy will have to stay united, focusing on ensuring that checks and balances remain intact and that crucial democratic watchdog institutions elude capture.

Otherwise, America will find itself sleepwalking into autocracy."

Let’s be more accurate about what Target is really doing because the headlines aren’t telling it right.

Target is bending the knee and sending a message to its customers that equity doesn’t matter and that the old systems—built to favor a few while excluding the rest—are just fine.

Tips to keep democracy alive in 2025:

1. Be Brave. Avoid helpless/hopeless talk. Authoritarians want you to feel powerless because it makes their work easier. Courage, faith, and optimism are essential. Fascism feeds on cynicism and pessimism. Starve it.

So let's force women to be pregnant. Great idea.

Banning abortion will get more women killed. Kind of wild how Orwellian it is to called oneself "prolife." The GOP is the pro-murder party.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

When American women under 25 get pregnant, their odds of death by homicide more than double.

This is just one of their stories.

With all the conversation about the shooting of the United Healthcare CEO, there's one thing I can't stop thinking about.

Kyle Rittenhouse.

Too many people seem fine with shooting people in cold blood just as long as it's in the interests of maintaining white supremacy.

NEW: School vouchers were passed in Mississippi in the 1960s with the support of the White Citizens’ Council and a goal of continuing segregation. Money still goes to segregation academies today. Shocking story.
Segregation Academies in Mississippi Are Benefiting From Public Dollars, as They Did in the 1960s
ProPublica identified 20 schools in the state that likely opened as segregation academies and have received almost $10 million over the past six years from the state’s tax credit donation program.

Again, it has utterly fallen down the Memory Hole that the FIRST TIME Trump secretly partnered with Russia in 2016 to undermine Obama's foreign policy was to help Bibi defeat a resolution against illegal settlements in the West Bank.
Hamas hoped Oct. 7 would spark a regional war. But in a dark irony of history, it may lead to the most anti-Palestinian, pro-occupation POTUS ever.
I doubt an alternative US approach would’ve resulted in greater US domestic approval for Biden. Just different Americans disapproving, possibly more.

When Musk talks about “the elites,” he can’t even pretend he’s talking about people like himself- out of touch rich white billionares, he’s clearly invoking the idea of a Jewish cabal controlling the world. He has invoked Soros multiple times, directly called him worse than Magneto

No one should delegitimate any Jew's experience in this area, especially now. As someone who reports on antisemitism, I tend to be pretty even-keel b/c it's already priced in. But many Jews are feeling more fearful, and it's not b/c anyone told them to be, but b/c of their evaluation of real events.
Various self-appointed Popes of the Jews telling us we're supposed to be afraid. And if we're not afraid, we're tokens at best, self-hating at worst. Incredibly dark place we're in.
