(I need PS2 input devices b/c my network card goes wonky if too many USB ports are being used. Dunno why. But I can't have my hub, headset/mic, capture device, keyboard, and mouse all plugged in and stay online to stream. Hopefully freeing up those two ports will let everything run smoothly again.)

I do still need to set up VSeeFace/motion tracking, which looks to be way more complicated in Linux than it was in Windows. Still, I should be able to get that all done this weekend.

I think I should be able to start streaming again on Monday, once my PS2 keyboard and mouse are delivered!

[Linux] My capture device worked with no issues, and is feeding signal from my Switch into OBS. My broadcast to Twitch was steady and stable. Now I just need to set up an on-screen chat window (was using Streamlabs, but I'll have to set that up in OBS now) and I'll be almost ready to stream again.

Dunno if it’s better to leave IOMMU on or not, but I’m going to buy a PS/2 keyboard/mouse so I don’t need to worry about anything getting confused that I’m using the USB ports on my own computer. If Wi-Fi still works at that point, I’ll just leave it off (or rather switch it back to “auto.”)

You know what’s fun? Having to spend more than day trying to figure out why Linux won’t see your keyboard or Wi-Fi (and also doesn’t want to even actually install) only to find one little toggle option in the bios that suddenly makes everything work properly.

Anyway, computer’s working again.

Considering just not bothering trying to get Windows back. Can’t upgrade to 11 anyway, and everything important was backed up. I might just install Ubuntu as my sole OS and be done with it.

Ah yes, that fun moment when Ubuntu installation alongside Windows fails for no apparent reason, but also manages to wipe out the Windows boot loader, so now I have no OS at all.

Also Ubuntu can’t detect my WiFi, so every “grab this utility” fix won’t work until I can get on someone else’s machine.

In the 2010s, this country's elites were thrown onto social platforms with everyone else and could finally read what we all think about them and it caused them so much psychic damage that they decided to destroy both the internet and democracy to make sure nothing like it ever happened again.

This predates the social media wars of the late 2010s: One Trump appointee told me that a radicalizing experience was being booted out of the Gawker comments section, way back in the day. But as progressive movements swept through social media, others were tossed off Twitter and Facebook for stepping over a variety of lines, from allegations of harassment to claims of election misinformation. Pandemic era public health rules and fevered enforcement cost others their accounts.

What’s mind-boggling about it is, liberal politicians are already on the fascists’ list of targets, & fascists never vote for “fascist lite” over “actual fascist.” Libs can overwhelmingly win if they only put in the minimum effort to court progressives. But that risks alienating big money donors…
