I am in. I think we ought to just cancel the November and December holidays. No turkey, no gelt, no trees, no gifts, no Black Friday, nothing. Everybody just Stops Spending except for rent and food and medical care. No "Oinkmas." That might get attention better than a strike.

Oh! And birth control pills were not covered under the regular coverage where you went to the pharmacy and showed your card. You had to order them by mail, with a form that (at least in my case) I had to get from our CFO (who was an old white guy who pretended he wasn't judging) and then fax in.

Pre-Obamacare, birth control and maternity care were considered optional coverages. Basically, people capable of becoming pregnant had to pay extra no matter what.

And a history of c-section could be a preexisting condition, upping your premiums into perpetuity.

People have forgotten how horrible insurance was before the ACA. You just couldn’t get coverage if you had a “pre-existing condition” which could be anything as minor as seasonal allergies; no prescription drug or maternity coverage; low annual limits. Just a nightmare.

i know we’re talking about the ACA but this was true for me and my bestfriend for ARPA. dv shelters were flush with cash for prob the first time ever. This meant i could flee with my dog and cat without a 10 month waitlist and traveling 300 miles. they covered a ~year of her and her kids rent.
