Republicans have voted to destroy the United States of America. The rest of us will not allow it. Resist fascism with joy, with anger, with humor, with spite, but however you need to do it: resist!

I like to remind people about lifetime limits and the refusal of insurers to sell coverage to people with preexisting conditions.

The ACA has issues. But those 2 things alone make it worth saving and fixing.

Seeing a lot of "No Kings" protests groups using AI images lately

You aren't resisting fascism by using their tools

Be better than that

Every Wednesday we’re calling our city council members to demand a baseline of at least %.5 of the city budget be used to fund NYC libraries.

Join us in calling!

Here’s a script with instructions bit.ly/3KM9Eq9 , and you can look up your city council member here : council.nyc.gov/districts/

I don't know if you can read the expression on this Red-tailed Hawk's face, but I promise you it's giving "you have got to be fucking kidding me right now" because a squirrel had climbed up the entire lamp post and was about two feet away at this point. :) #bireds

Please share a weird animal fact. Or a lesser-known animal fact.

FACT: Coyotes climb trees. (Coyote Ethos: “Never tell me the odds.”)

In a week from now, I'll be back out on the tundra to see these big, beautiful bears. I can't wait! 🌿🐻‍❄️ #mammals
Two large, male polar bears spar on their hind legs in the misty morning sun, among the flashes of gold of a few remaining willow leaves. The bear on the left is biting the cheek of the bear on the right. A polar bear sits pensively among the bare willows as light snow flutters around it.

A mom in Houston reported her 15-year-old son with autism missing. She spent 6 days terrified, searching for him. The whole time, Houston police knew exactly where he was since they helped ICE place him in a refugee facility.

This is beyond cruel.

Aferah, for a personal project, 2017
Aferah, an illustration by Eleonor Piteira of a woman in profile standing on a desert. Framing her head is a gold sun like a halo, and her long dark hair becomes the night sky behind her, with two pale moons among the stars. On one hand she holds a 4 leaf clover and on another a gold cup tilted down, a gold river pouring from it.

Mechanic: Okay great, anything else I need to know?

Me: Oh! Yes. His name is Gerard :) (pats car's hood like a trusty dog)

Mechanic: (the longest pause in human history) No, I meant, is the car making any noises or...?

Me: Oh... Um... No...

Combining direct lighting - as Mark the Evangelist is demonstrating by using the illuminating dove - is great for targeted tasks and emphasizing details at your desk, while indirect lighting - see the open window - creates a warm and inviting environment. Bonus: your cat will like it. #catcontent

Diversity is our strength, no matter what racist, bigoted Republicans say.

Real Americans embrace diversity, equity and inclusion.

Real Americans reject Trump and his white nationalist cronies.

Trump is bad, project 2025 is bad and the people who love America, the real patriots reject both.

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.
