I’m good with claiming Marcy and Como for NE but I draw the line at having to own the neighborhood where Frey lives.

I’m grateful that last year most of my colleagues supported funding for EHVs, a data-backed Housing First Strategy. I am confident council will once again work together to ensure both these critical programs are fully funded in the 2026 budget.

It’s cold and people living outside have nowhere to go. Like other council-led initiatives, Frey stalled out the work on this year’s funded vouchers. Whether it’s political games or mismanagement, the cost is at least 150 residents staying homeless.

Frey has shown he isn’t capable of managing the city and its resources effectively. Choosing between struggling families in MPS and unsheltered neighbors is a false choice and a demonstration of the mayor’s poor leadership.

To clarify, Mayor Frey’s proposed budget defunded 100 Emergency Housing Vouchers for unsheltered residents and still does not fully fund Stable Homes Stable Schools. Now, council will work to restore the vouchers and address the fiscal cliff he chose not to fix back in August.
One of Minneapolis' most successful homelessness prevention programs is not accepting new referrals, and could run out of money by next spring unless the mayor and City Council can agree on a rescue plan >> www.axios.com/local/twin-c...
Minneapolis' model anti-homelessness program faces "fiscal cliff"
Mayor Jacob Frey has a plan to prop up Stable Homes Stable Schools — but it would cancel another anti-homelessness effort.

Can't believe how often I run into the misconception that shelter animals are all broken, deficient, or ruined in some way. The overwhelming majority of shelter animals end up there because of human circumstances, NOT because they did anything wrong.

NEW: The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did.

We found more than 170 such incidents since the start of the second Trump administration. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes nearly 20 children, two of whom have cancer.

I get that some people are worried about transit crime.

The right response isn't to reallocate agencies' (already stretched) budgets toward public safety. It's to help the public understand that there is nothing to fear -- and to loudly condemn those like USDOT Sec Duffy who are spreading lies.
We Need a Reality Check on Crime, Safety and Transit
Despite common assumptions, traveling by bus, subway or train is far safer than driving. How can transit agencies correct misinformation about the real risks?

Counterpoint: Reasonable people dismiss concerns about subway crime because *those concerns are factually baseless.*

That's a very good reason to dismiss them!
Some dismiss concerns about subway crime as baseless, the result of insufficiently hardened attitudes toward life in the “big city," Charles Fain Lehman writes. But if policy makers ignore people’s fears, they'll miss a chance to make transit better:
The Other Reason Americans Don’t Use Mass Transit
People will take buses and trains only if they feel safe while riding them.

So how did we do? Well…

we know jacob frey uses one phone because he famously gave his number out left and right when he was running for mayor in 2017, telling people to contact him for anything, and he would have conversations, like with @jasoncomix.bsky.social

most of us got blocked by him after amir locke was killed
We all know the feeling of maxing out the text message space on our phone and having to delete them all — routinely.
www.startribune.com/mayor-jacob-...
The mayor routinely deletes “a lot” of his text messages, Peters said, saying he's allowed to delete those that are transitory. The mayor uses just one cell phone – his personal one, she said, and "that's a lot to have on a phone" if he didn't routinely delete some of them.

people are justifying their AI use with “well, any tech you use uses data centers.”

it’s like drag racing a hummer and saying it’s the same as commuting in a prius.

hmm, what happened in Minneapolis on June 3? cuz Frey erased all his text messages and call log with the Chief of Minneapolis police. Why would he deliberately erase his text and communication with the Chief on that day?
