"The so-called 'knock-on' effects of a crypto currency 'bank run' happening simultaneously with a massive equity correction were not understood until it was too late for any Central Bank to meaningfully intervene."

Jared Harris plays Valery Alekseyevich Legasov in the 2019 historical drama "Chernobyl." Legasov stands next to a presentation board with blue cards with white words arranged vertically. He points to the board with his right arm while explaining the nuclear disaster that occurred in 1986. A crowd of people sit behind him.

By the time Joe Biden left office, inflation was neither “high” nor “permanent,” but it was deeply unpopular to point this out, because it conflicted with The Narrative™️ that could not fail (it could only be failed).

This got me curious, so data: The Fed's had a formal 2% target since 2012. The current 3-month moving average of deviation from 2% is 0.285.

The mean absolute value of the 2012-24 deviation is 1.19.

There have only been 24 of 155 (15.5%) months where we've ever been <closer> to target than now.

Trump: "I had a very wealthy person who called -- a donor, a great gentleman -- and he said, 'if there's any money necessary, shortfall, for the paying of the troops, then I will pay it.' Meaning he will pay it. How about that?"

In a scene from the movie "Vertigo," character Midge perches on a table before panoramic windows viewing the San Francisco skyline. Art supplies and sketches litter the apartment. She wears a white blouse and dark, knee-length skirt draped in a large off-white canvas.

Everyone agrees that we're currently in a dotcom era-like AI bubble. People disagree what sort of bubble it is.

There are 3 stories one can tell about the dotcom crash: a startup story, a telecom story, and an accounting fraud story.

My take: it's giving Enron

How often do you covet an interior?
Have friends or family ever mentioned your unrealistic apartment expectations?
Do you ever fail to do what was normally expected because you were coveting an interior?

On a lighter note before taking a break from here...

The Death of Stalin is one of my all time favourite films, but I always find this behind-the-scenes still hilarious because there's just something about a pose that looks like "Marshall Zhukov takes a selfie with the lads" that's inherently funny
