Reminder: the “free market” doesn’t work for insurance because you pre-pay for services with your premiums and insurance companies bank the most profit by denying coverage.

She needed her social, a tax return, her marriage license, her father’s birth certificate, and for some reason, her baptismal record.

She had to have her birth certificate corrected before she could get her drivers license renewed.

Correcting a birth certificate is a pain in the ass. It would have been easier to just legally change her name.

It’s not a matter of authority or whether it was just done.

My wife had a nurse change her last name from an ‘es’ to an ‘ez.’ Her parents filed for her social security card with an ‘es.’

The discrepancy didn’t matter until Real ID came out & the DMV had a fit.
