Lasercut wood print blocks of @queermedieval.bsky.social's Portland Frog Protest art (vs my previous acrylic versions), including a divided version w/9" tall frog & 3" agents so I can set type in a column between. Closeups to show how artist Miles' drawn lines look engraved in wood #DHmakes +
Photo of two laser engraved wood blocks set on a carpet to show how a column of letterpress type might be printed between them. The art is by Miles (@queermedieval.bsky.social). The first block is 9" tall by 6" wide, a nice bamboo Ikea rectangular cutting board engraved with just the Frog from Miles' drawing; the second is a square 3" wood plaque (from Michael's a while back so likely cheap pine?) and shows just the agents from Miles' art. The original art shows the person in a fullsize inflatable cartoon frog costume who faced off with, shamed, and caused retreat of literal evil government agents in Portland recently, facing off against two agents armed and surged in ways that indicate planned disrespect of human rights and their supposed peace keeping mission. Heard about this earlier, and my jaw didn’t drop. You know who else isn’t surprised? Pretty much every Republican.

As someone who’s been a frequent target, none of this shocks me. I don’t expect real consequences from the right because I doubt today is the first day they heard about it.

The college students line is also garbage. YRs are Republicans between 18 and 40.

All of a sudden we can’t engage in good-natured college banter like “I love Hitler”? The left’s cancel culture is out of control, I tell you what.

“End demand” laws—often marketed under name of the Nordic Model—are frequently touted as a one-size-fits-all solution

The logic sounds straightforward: if you punish clients who purchase sexual services, the industry will collapse, exploitation will end.

But decades of evidence tell us otherwise.

Please stop saying the $ is weak because of Liberation Day. The $ is weak because of what Vance said in Munich on Valentine’s Day.

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Once we used to care
Now its all up to EU.

This is important IMO. The $ selloff this year may have been exacerbated by liberation day tariffs on April 2, but what really kicked it off was Vance’s speech in Munich in mid-Feb followed by Merz’s early March response to increase German defense spend & can the debt brake.

What nationality was the “very wealthy person”?
atrupar.com
Trump: "I had a very wealthy person who called -- a donor, a great gentleman -- and he said, 'if there's any money necessary, shortfall, for the paying of the troops, then I will pay it.' Meaning he will pay it. How about that?"

it’s illegal, but, also, this didn’t happen, and if someone *did* tell him this, they were lying

Q: This has been reported for a while. Cory Mills was accused of beating a girlfriend in his DC apt. Are you concerned about these allegations?

JOHNSON: You have to ask Rep. Mills about that. He's been a faithful colleague. I don't know the details. Let's talk about things that are really serious

When I talk about disordered counterpublics I make the point loyalty trumps accountability for the in-group, and this is a perfect example of that.

It's one of those ethical issues where basically everyone understands that adopting the former view is better for society and adopting the latter view is better for you as an individual, and like most issues like that, elites have shifted very hard towards the "fuck society" position

I think one of the biggest cleavages in our society that no one talks about is the division between those that think powerful people must be held to a higher standard than non-powerful people and those who think powerful people should be flattered and sucked up to.

"blue hair" is a somewhat anachronistic term for elderly ladies and I guess in that sense he's not wrong, there's a lot of normie grandparents at these things

Berated a Capitol police officer huh
sarwark.org
Mean words make Mike mad.
atrupar.com
Mike Johnson: "They berated a Capitol police officer, screamed at him. He was merely standing his post. It shows, again, their disdain for law enforcement, the Democrats, screaming, assaulting officers."
