“But women can always get a man if they just lower their standards!”

Cool story bro. You lower yours first.

How weak is your God that a beer can and kneeling for the anthem were something he needed saving from?

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

I am being asked to tell my department which pieces of lab equipment should be supported with backup power because they expect rolling blackouts and brownouts in 2026 due to increased energy demands from AI. In case you're wondering how my day is going.

Yeah it’s not actually simple, but I’d figure it out if I had to. And the logistics of being allowed to stay in another country are the really challenging part, so… yeah, would be nice if THAT part of the puzzle got solved. Sigh.

Honestlyyy I kinda figure it’s a win for me if they don’t let me back in, then I have an excuse to stay out!

Just an absolutely massive number of people reading/hearing “this is a good and important thing to do if you can” as “this is the only good and important thing go do and will fix everything immediately” and assuming that everyone else also suffers from their appalling reading comprehension

the concept of "necessary but not sufficient" is dead thanks to the internet, everyone wants one neat trick the doctors don't want you to know.

Why would a billionaire want a functioning paper? Functioning papers cover shit like “did you know this billionaire makes his workers pee into bottles instead of taking a break” and “you pay way more tax than a guy with ten yachts”

All kids deserve free meals.
ohiocapitaljournal.com
Making free meals available to all public students wouldn't only produce benefits equal to the costs, it would produce social benefits with a net worth of about $520 million a year, according to an economic analysis released last Monday. ohiocapitaljournal.com/2025/10/14/a...
Analysis: Universal school meals in Ohio would pay for themselves — and then some • Ohio Capital Journal
Most Ohio school kids already get free meals. Making them free for all students would produce big social benefits, new study says.

CHUCK TINGLE FOR PRESIDENT
redshiftsinger.bsky.social
Thank you for censoring the pic so we don’t have to see his face so much
redshiftsinger.bsky.social
Yeah that’s it exactly. Too many people don’t understand that a vote for President isn’t a love letter, it’s a chess move. You’re picking the person you‘d rather have to fight in order to create the world you want.

No candidate is perfect but some are more persuadable to do better than others.

Stede adapts by next choosing an extremely raunchy song (it’s not a romantic love song, it’s about fucking!) and he’s a bit awkward at first but he gains confidence and starts throwing in gyrations and everything.

Ed ABSOLUTELY blows him in the bathroom after.

Unfortunately I did see some “see, we didn’t have to vote for Harris to end the genocide” crap.

Trump’s bs was always going to fall apart, and it’s very possible that Harris wouldn’t have done better for Gaza but at least we would have some basic stability here to work from, ya know?

the position of the administration it seems is that it is illegal discrimination and divisive racism for historically excluded groups to organize on that basis to improve their position. it’s basically just a genteel version of david duke’s complaint that there wasn’t a NAACP for white people
victorerikray.bsky.social
I know it is beside the point because this administration simply wants resegregation but conferences for Black professional associations have always been open to everyone. Typically, the started as a response to white exclusion, and did not replicate that.

Very bad: OSU unilaterally cancelled the registration of grad students attending the joint conference of the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists. And OSU won't fund recruiting at the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.

Side note: we’ve gotten used to it, but solar panels are kind of an insane technological advancement.

Virtually every other form of energy production, from coal to nuclear, is ultimately about turning a turbine to crank out energy.

But not solar. Solar just…sits there and makes energy. Like magic.

Grid scale batteries are changing our electricity system. Excellent new visual story on batteries in FT today shows just how far this technology has evolved.

Fasten your seatbelts, this is just the beginning.

Maybe I didn’t call it out loud, but I called it in my mind.

Israel isn’t going to stop murdering Palestinians until, at minimum, the US has a government that isn’t run by genocidal, enabling psychopaths.

Vote better next time.

The many media outlets, politicians, and commentators who rushed to declare “a great peace, glory to the king!” should ask themselves why they did that, and figure out how to not make the same mistake again.

This is a really important point.

They’re performing power for an audience.

For us.

To convince us that they have more power than they do.

They’re fear-harvesting.

This is a sign of immense weakness. It’s like a mobster asking others if they’d be interested in a shakedown because their first targets didn’t cooperate.
