For the “aha, but will those protesters get involved in other organizing??” skeptics…Boston No Kings had a big row of booths providing info + sign-up sheets for a bunch of local activism and political organizations. I have seen similar at other 50501 events.

One thing that always boggles me is how little people are involved in the core Chinese administration considering how big the population is. It seems like they just assume that if the companies are technically partially owned by the government it its bureaucracy of the government.

I'm genuinely shocked at the turnout this weekend. I think the Oregonian lowballed crowd estimates and that it was probably way more than my own initial estimate. I would not be surprised to learn later that one in five people across the city protested on Saturday.

saw crowd in portland and my brain just shut down when I tried counting. 50k just downtown maybe? tens of thousands for sure. turnout at no kings in june might have been the biggest action in portland in decades but this one is bigger several times over
