To my mind, fencing off pedestrian right of ways which were authorized and funded by state and local jurisdictions without a public review process is blatantly illegal. No different from Trump closing federal departments he doesn't like.
"Fences have become a scourge for anyone trying to walk around downtowns or working-class Twin Cities neighborhoods over the last few years. Instead of solving challenging problems, our governments have turned to fences that cut off necessary urban connections..."
Using fencing to curb homelessness in the Twin Cities is an insult - MinnPost
Agencies and governments turn to fencing instead of actual solutions for problems related to people experiencing homelessness.

One of the most encouraging things I've seen is Hochul jumping on the universal childcare bandwagon. Good.

No Kings protest in The Woodlands, Texas (north suburban Houston). This is the first such protest to occur in the community. I overheard a number of folks telling others that they had never attended such an event before but had gotten to the point of feeling they needed to do something.

The teeny tiny No Kings things in very red areas are so huge

Say like five or six people show up. None of them knew each other before. Suddenly they’re all friends. And maybe from that you get a group that does longer-term organizing that can punch *way* above its weight considering where it is

god, making mistakes is so much more punishing in knitting than in crochet.

with crochet, you can just frog the part you messed up, and do it again.

with knitting, you have to painstakingly undo each loop and carefully transfer it back to the other needle before you can redo it all.

What you’re forgetting here is that I do not give a flying fuck whether it’s transformational to you or not. It’s a way to put people out of work or to make them do two jobs and pay them for only one. It’s intellectual property theft and it’s stealing our electrical grids. Fuck GenAI forever.
There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI.
1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks.
2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.

Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.
