NYT put the largest protests in US history below the fold in two small photos and a story on page 23. One tiny line and no photo on its website (now gone). This is why people outside the US keep asking me why Americans aren't protesting.
The New York Times has been complicit for a long while now, but this goes beyond complicity to intentional disinformation.
And conversely I think plenty would like to use holiday sounds outside said holidays' seasons, so could tackle both in one go.

It's nice that Halloween sounds are an *option* for those who want them, but I wish Discord let me preemptively disable them forever. It's annoying to have to switch back to default sounds every single year when they override them without asking.

Please, Discord, respect my wish to not be festive.

Higher education is one thing but what we really, really need to pay attention to is how they’re trying to ram through LLM use on ECE & elementary.

We should be fighting that harder than we are. It’s like the thing where they tried to market cigarettes to kids back when —lifelong customers.
The scenario in which there are oligarchs powerful enough to succeed at their AI con and force LLMs onto the rest of society is the outright fascist and dystopian scenario. That higher ed has largely capitulated to the scam means it had already been deskilled. We need to understand how and why.
“Ultimately, the collective strategy of AI companies threatens to deskill precisely those people who are essential for society to function(…) automation of knowledge and culture by private companies is a worrying prospect – conjuring dystopian and outright fascistic scenarios.” — @olivia.science

its so funny that so much of our government is just held up by gentlemens promises and you can just do insane stuff because nobody thought about it before.

Like "the president can demolish large sections of the white house because he just didn't staff the approval committee" should not be true.
There's a committee that's supposed to approve all significant changes.

Trump just didn't bother appointing anyone to it, so it currently does not exist.

He also did not consult with the building's owners...the National Park Service.

I can't really explain fully why this is the thing of all things that got my jaw on the floor but I guess it's such a literal symbol and also such a jaw dropping amount of money while small businesses are struggling to survive the tariffs

Such a visible "go fuck yourself"
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

Imagine a story that swaps between two viewpoints equally that are expressly moral opposites.

You actually can't make nuanced protagonists anymore because people will just make a make a viewpoint character part of their moral crystal no matter how badly in the wrong that character is, -just- because they're the protagonist.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

I have a theory that over-religious Americans forget "king" is a government role. That's how they can say our "king" is an anti-authority ascetic fella who died 1800+ years before we ever existed.

Imagine if Burger King got hit by this. "THE TRUE KING OF BURGERS IS DIOGENES, YOU MARXIST HERETIC!"
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."
Ironically as someone who LIKES "complex and weird and taxing" I feel a struggle to move on from 5e *because* you're right, as opposed to despite...

Makes finding folks to play with tough and makes discussing ttrpg not go too well for me either...

Case in point: I got called a reactionary tourist for not being a fan of what WotC's been doing with D&D, in spite of being queer and as left as it gets.

This isn't a healthy way to approach anyone who says anything remotely negative about your favourite brand.

Tip for the GMs, writers, and worldbuilders out there;

Good things can be done for bad reasons. The inverse is also very, very possible, but either way, it's a tool that you should keep in your back pocket.

Considering stuff I heard on many peoples' thoughts on travel rules, encumbrance, ammo, the adventuring day, and more...

"Completely disconnected from the game's rules" seems to describe the primary fucking audience...

The "cozycore" identity WotC's been pushing for D&D lately may be toothless and completely disconnected from the game's rules, but it's a reflection of how a lot of D&D "lifestylers" interact with the brand. This isn't a new creative direction, it's a business decision.
