🚫TTRPG Anti-AI Blocklist: bsky.app/profile/did:...
Just to reassure anyone who has seen this and uses our TTRPG AI Blocklist, we do not use LLM / AI Detectors.

They're just not reliable, so for us it comes down to A) people who just outright admit it, or B) talking with other artists / writers and seeing if we can see telltales signs of AI use.
Just because I keep seeing those "I checked this piece and it's written by AI" - this is an old article of mine, before AI was available. So could we not?

No clue! But I can see it.

You take a person fascinated with the human mind, and more specifically, how the mind works with people who commit crimes violent or otherwise.

Give em some creativity, and a TTRPG system that lets me make and play something involving writing that aaaand...there you go.
The fact they are plain people is what lets them be underestimated option enough to get away with things, too.

I also considered criminal Psychology, but never pursued it.

Wonder what the rate of TTRPG folk is that have that same pipeline?

"The status quo allows for horrible injustices, and needs to be combatted! To do so, I've killed a bunch of babies!"

"Wow, the baby killing guy has a point. But we still need to stop him!"

*Ten episodes later*

"We stopped him! Now for everything to go right back to the way it was!"
Villains having a good point, but then they suddenly do something OOC monstrous because they need to give a reason for the heroes to defeat them.

Bonus points if the thing the villain was right about (eg. an injustice) is then never brought up again and addressed after the villain is defeated.

Question for the GMs, writers, and worldbuilding folks out there;

What is a trope that you are sick to death of and why?

I'll start; the concept of a genius criminal / serial killer / person responsible for a conspiracy. It's not just statistically incorrect, its dangerous representation.

Lotta “art shouldn’t be political” takes going around (including from faculty at my art program) and I just have to say: wow fuck that

We're experiencing a transformation in the popular understanding of how conspiracies and armies of minions come into being. I think a lot of the big narratives going forward are going to be about expecting geniuses or good reasons and finding none.

in 2017 a popular twitter game was to type a partial phrase then see what your phone auto-completes it with.

this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US.

I’m just over it. It’s too much for one set of hands.

I’m about hopecore team efforts these days.

AI is the future tho.

Damn like. Can't you tell. It's so obviously the future.

Making up bullshit data with nothing to base it off of? That's the future man. You just lie and hope things go well.
lol this is gonna burst so fucking hard

If you live in the US, call your fucking representatives and tell them that repealing Section 230 is a horrible idea. If Section 230 is gone, you can kiss Bluesky goodbye.
Reminder that they're still trying to repeal section 230 (thereby making platform holders like bsky legally responsible for content posted by their users etc etc)

There is still a need for you to blow up your rep's phones on this if you enjoy being able to do things like "post" or "have an porn"
Complete Nonsense

In 1854, after watching the federal government deploy 2000 federal troops and spend $40,000 sending Anthony Burns back into slavery, Boston's Amos Adams Lawrence said “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.”
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at today’s ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch 😭. @maddow.bsky.social

For as unpleasant and rough as the news and current events can be, I do still think that using them and other political events in our stories and TTRPG settings is extremely important.

Not just because they're topics that need to be discussed, but because they help you refine yourself as a writer.

We as a collective really need to demand better and more from our news/fan sites

I get it, it's hard out here and dnd gets clicks

But you could at least be ethical and aware of just what your promoting

Ttrpgs and other creative spaces are being actively harmed. We have to be better
Not only is it a poor showing from anybody creating material for DnD (or really any TTRPG tbh) to use AI generated content, writing a promotion for said AI generated content is a great indicator to *not* care about those promos.

Either they know what's in the content, or they simply don't care.

Alright, so I was paying attention to Bell of Lost Souls, hoping that maybe they'd realize their mistake and try to correct it but uh.

Yeah no that doesn't appear to have happened.

I'll be putting them into the TTRPG AI Blocklist. Someone shilling for AI users is just as bad at this point.

Question for the GMs, writers, and worldbuilding folks out there;

I'm a firm believer in the idea that sometimes, the best thing you can do in your setting is present a mystery and not provide an answer, so-

What is your favorite oddity / mysterious occurrence to happen in your setting?

Aight real talk I was gonna do a ""Bad TTRPG Tip"", but I realized as I was writing it that it's actually kind of a fun worldbuilding idea.

Imagine if Elves (or really any long lived species) just didn't get concerned if they lose a limb, as given a few years, their body should grow a new one.

Indie game devs, when you use the slop machine in your game, it makes it clear to players that you don't give a fuck and just want money.

Draw crappy but genuine art instead.
