Oh hi new people. I've done stuff concerning plastic robots you might like. One thing I keep doing is toy photos for @tfwiki.net, including many rare and weird and cool things from across 40 years of the line.

I have a Patreon if you'd like to make me do EVEN MORE

"Bump of Chicken" Bumblebee, a light-blue redeco of "Titans Return" Bumblebee that was part of a collaboration between Takara, the band Bump of Chicken, and Studio Trigger (all three of whom recently re-collabed on that big 40th anniversary music video) Esporte, a Brazilian exclusive Transformer from 1985, a red sports car that rolls and transforms via wired remote control. This mold was released in the US by Village Toys under the "Convert-A-Bots" line. Takara's Metals Rattrap, a white-and-orange version exclusive to a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle Nezha, from the seemingly-short-lived China-exclusive "Nezha: Transformers" toyline, a crossover between TF and the popular "Nezha" cartoon that was a big announcement in like 2017 then nothing happened for YEARS and then August 2024 they announced the show was finally airing at some point? It's weird.

The storms are just... things you see and hear in the background. There's like one or two quest-specific storms, but as far as general weather patterns go, they're a non-entity.

Feels like something planned they just never really got to implement, but too plot-important to drop completely.
msipher.bsky.social
Not so much a complaint as a light disappointment with Horizon Forbidden West:

The story makes a big deal about the blight and storms, but neither really amount to much of anything, gameplay-wise. Blight is at most a scattered, slow, slight health-drain, and given how easy it is to heal, who cares.

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

Financial journalism takes many forms
But in all seriousness, we now have three publicly-traded tech firms that have all agreed to join Sam Altman’s No IT Loads Refused Cash Dump, all promising to do things on insane timelines that they - as executives of giant hardware manufacturers - all must know are impossible to meet.

"bottom surgery is bourgeois because capitalist healthcare systems make it too expensive for most people to afford" is a statement that when you unpack it is an analytic falsehood, a self-contradiction.

collar gate is the latest instance of a trumped-up non-issue blossoming into a large-scale psychosis event – and possibly the dumbest. it's also the modern internet doing exactly what it was engineered to do
To be honest, I wouldn’t be mentioning this if not for the fact that it’s a microcosm of how online platforms work today: Somebody makes an accusation based on evidence that’s spurious at best, big names with something to gain (viewership or the downfall of a perceived enemy) uncritically boost it, internet sleuths obsessively piece together supporting evidence by amassing context-free clips and ignoring everything that doesn’t match their intended conclusion, and all of the aforementioned parties spread performatively apoplectic videos across Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and wherever else they can sucker in uninitiated normies.

Some version of this happens every week – every day, on a smaller scale – without fail. It accomplishes nothing aside from giving the disaffected masses a brief glimmer of what feels like purpose, but is actually a bloodsucking waste of their precious time on this dying planet. And of course, it provides platforms with sweet, sweet engagement numbers. As a result, platforms will probably never intervene to disrupt this corrosive dynamic, which has broken the general public’s ability to perceive anything resembling objective reality, even as society collapses around them and people like Piker attempt to identify the real reasons why (hint: they don't involve dog collars).

The internet has been like this at least since the Depp v. Heard trial, which wannabe sleuths similarly feasted on in 2022 while getting pretty much every important detail completely wrong. At least back then they were obsessing over something of consequence. Now they’ve taught viewers to regard every trumped-up non-issue they can surface with similar gravity.

it wasn't enough that our cities and states already paid far more than they receive from the federal government. the people who elected trump want to steal more from us, to give to Argentina, to give to ICE, to give to billionaires. Intolerable

Trump admin has frozen or cancelled $28 b for projects, almost all in Dem districts. Small amount of frozen funds in GOP districts are in predominately Dem states (CA, OR, WA, CO, MN, IL, NY, MD), or in predominately Dem cities (St Louis, Atlanta, Greenville) www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Hey look, Israel broke the cease-fire, twice, in two different ways, within 24 hours - again.

NEW: Israel informed the UN it will permit only 300 aid trucks into Gaza daily, not the 600 mandated by the ceasefire it just signed.

people believe because they want to believe. there's no mystery to it. he shows up with a lot of money backing him, he moves in the right circles, and he tells them what they want to hear.

people will believe almost anyone who says what they already want to hear, convincingly.

How do people not SEE the extent to which this guy is an utter bullshitter? Is this some kind of autistic soul-read thing I'm manifesting? I don't understand how people aren't getting constant red flags from this guy. Every picture just trumpets bullshitter, he is like a parody of a normie-fooler.

Carlo DeMaria, Mayor of Everett, said police followed standard procedure and did not contact ICE but ICE has "the authority to access certain law enforcement databases and take action on its own accord. He said city has "no authority or control over what happens next" once ICE steps in.

To be clear, DHS posted on X that the 13-year-old was in possession of a firearm when he was arrested and used that post as their official statement on the matter. Now Everett mayor/police chief are saying it's not true. I've followed up with Tricia McLaughlin to ask if the department stands by it.

There had been reports that the boy had a gun on him, but Mayor DeMaria and the police chief said there was not a gun found on him.

Cyberworld cartoon continues to be a fine little distraction. It neither overstays or pads its runtime, the animation and modeling are far better than more "serious" efforts in the past, it's fine. It's fine.

Hopefully tho some weird toys get in and make things a bit more strage and interesting.

Preventing myself from playing any more Horizon FW for a bit, need to do October Patreon toypics and get at least one longer video done, on top of... ugh so much other stuff for life.

It's at this moment in history that I'm reminded of how 8 years ago the right flew into an absolute panic because they got trolled on social media about "antifa supersoldiers."
can't wait for November 4th when millions of antifa supersoldiers will behead all white parents and small business owners in the town square

Not that anybody comes to me for Maine politics, but the fact that the Democrats successfully convinced a 77yo Governor to primary the 41yo progressive, is today's example of why the Democrats fucking stay failing.

Susan Collins is 72 and if Schumer gets his way, she'll be the YOUNGER choice!

To be clear, I don’t think our wealthier are some worse/stupider species of human elites than the Gilded Age. I think we “invented dating and sexual rituals with attractive people involving phones and profiles more than money”, which created a worse and stupider class of elites.
