So glad we’re burning down rainforests and drying up lakes to help total losers masturbate in an entirely new way

Morning Coffee is about the only ritual shared by 90% of American adults. And the Atlantic is like, "I don't care if it feeds you spiritually, IT HAs No nuTRitIonAL vAlUE"
msemilyedwards.bsky.social
Ah yes, America. A culture built on the consumption of only things that are Pure, Beneficial, Valuable, and Logical, and easily gives up emotional crutches without any pushback.

Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.

One Special Guy is never, ever going to save you and how many f*ing elections do we have to have to test out our Special Guy Theory

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

Do you know how long those old bats LIVE up there? They're preserved by low temperatures, booze, and spite. [complimentary]

I've said this before, but one of the more striking things about the current generation of righties is that they really show no sign of understanding that there's a world *beyond* their screens, beyond owning & being owned on social media. A real world, with real people & real problems.

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

I literally went here on a field trip in the 5th grade and the tour tried to convince us that coal power was clean energy. I also didn't get my earplugs situated correctly before the tour started and suffered hearing damage.

New England’s final coal plant shuts down years ahead of schedule.

Poor economics drove the aging New Hampshire plant offline three years early, even as the Trump administration pushes to revitalize coal.

The *least* cynical thought I have about the "Trump" brokered peace deal in Gaza is that he's just auditioning for next year's Nobel Peace Prize and if he doesn't get it, God save us all.
msemilyedwards.bsky.social
Israel didn’t sign a peace deal, Netanyahu agreed to a brief cooldown period to deter international criticism and will go right back to slaughtering people as soon as we look away
msemilyedwards.bsky.social
i, frankly, think you have to be a gullible idiot if you think any peace deal “brokered” by Trump us in any way lasting and won’t just be thrown away as soon as someone realizes not enough Palestinians have been obliterated to build their dream vacation resort

There needs to be more coverage of this in the news. I have read so many stories bout this on Facebook, first hand stories of the terror of that storm, and very little coverage n media.

Screenshot of a Facebook post. Photo is an elderly woman holding a child on her ap on a couch with flood water around them. Both are wearing jackets inside. Text says: This was after our 1st drift.. staying put for awhile. Our 3rd and final drift was terrifying. House moving fast then we started spinning in circles. While we were spinning in circles my oldest daughter was just staring at me while I held onto my younger two. Kipnuk doesn't look like kipnuk anymore, like more than 3/4 of the homes displaced, power poles fallen. It smells like stove oil outside. Contaminated

THIS!!!

No, ACA isn’t perfect, but just straight up repealing it would kill a LOT of people.
buriedbybooks.bsky.social
I like to remind people about lifetime limits and the refusal of insurers to sell coverage to people with preexisting conditions.

The ACA has issues. But those 2 things alone make it worth saving and fixing.

Reading for pleasure has fallen by 40 percent since 2000. This is not progress. You should read because it's good for your brain, your soul. You should read because our freedoms will not long endure in a post-literate world. Most of all, you should read because it's fun.
