If you're interested in what two years of revegetation look like in the Klamath reservoirs, I'm presenting this Thursday at the Native Plant Society of Oregon, Siskiyou chapter meeting!
Drained reservoir with bright orange flowers in the foreground and a patchwork of brown soil and bright green vegetation in the background. The Klamath river runs through the middle

The technical name for petrified poop is called coprolite. I guess I should stop calling it a shartifact.

When a British kid speaks two languages well and a third passably they are considered gifted.

When a migrant kid speaks two languages and English passably, they are considered a threat.

Good morning

Chasing waterfalls and autumn views! Who else has stood on the Benson Bridge at Multnomah Falls and felt tiny compared to this natural wonder? Highly recommend visiting the Columbia River Gorge this time of year!

I've put a few new drawings up at
www.tomgauld.com/art-for-sale

There are also badges, prints and a zine at
www.tomgauld.com/shop
A pen and ink drawing.
Panel One:
A woman sits in a chair reading happily in a book-filled room.
 A voice offstage says
"You can't survive on books alone"
The woman replies
"Maybe I can!"

Panel Two:
"How?" asks the voice
"I don't know yet, but I'm sure the answer will be in one of my books." Says the woman

Panel Three:
Caption: However
The book is filled with yet more books.
A skull sits on the chair. It says
"I regret nothing!"

Agree. Try scratching it with your fingernail- gypsum will scratch, calcite won't.

Hard agree. I've always said, "I live in western Oregon. We're civilized. We keep our snow in the mountains, where, by and large, people don't need to go... unless they want to."

I'm enjoying seeing other people get snow, but I'm really glad to live where we mostly get rain in winter, not going to lie

Introducing the Nobel Rest In Peace Prize, awarded to the person whose demise in the past year has done the most to quell violence, hatred, and turmoil. Obviously, their death would need to be natural (no assassinations, executions, etc.) Don't want the prize to encourage violence. 3/3
lockwooddewitt.bsky.social
I told her the Nobels are awarded to the living only. She said, "I know that, and you know that, but Trump doesn't know that." I have little doubt she called that right, but it *did* give me an idea. The Committee should institute a NEW prize that's ONLY awarded posthumously. 2/3

Mentioned to a friend that Trump didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize, undoubtedly due to voter fraud, malfunctioning voting and tabulation machines, illegal aliens, vote-by mail, and so on. She said someone should console him and tell him he's still eligible for it posthumously. 1/3
