The only acceptable Keynesianism to the Labour right is military / weaponised Keynesianism. Impossible to harness state capacity for jobs & infrastructure in eg the NHS, council housing, social care or education. But loadsa cash to funnel to arms manufacturers to build munitions that'll gather dust

It really is infuriating that our politics has been mutilated to accommodate these crimes and ensure no negative consequences for the people who facilitated it. If the system won’t punish these people then the public has to instead, at every election for the rest of their lives, if necessary.

As I've been saying: there has been an ongoing project to turn every law enforcement agency, from your local sheriff to the NYPD, into a heavily armed right wing paramilitary organisation. This project has been largely successful and has had bipartisan support since 2001 at least.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
