Man teaching a novel this week has been a DREAM. Everyone read it. Everyone had complex thoughts about it. They helped me notice brand new things about a book I've read at least six times. Time flew so fast just talking to each other, no electronics, that we didn't even realize class was over

I’m so glad I’m a planner. I booked a hotel months in advance for a trip I’m taking in a couple weeks and I went to look at the room prices again just for shits & giggles. They’re now charging DOUBLE what I’m paying and i avoided all that by booking early 🤣

One thing I wanna say is that much of what made D'Angelo so great is that he understood he was part of a continuum, a legacy, a lineage of great Black music across the generations. He named, revered, studied the greats who preceded him, then figured out how to take their work several steps further.

I appreciate how he recognized the synthesis of music artists & musicianship inside of D'Angelo's artistry - as in what influenced him. I also loved how he sd "who didnt want to be D'Angelo", bc to me in corroboration w his 1st statement is discussing multiple generations.
