While the is some inspiration from Manifest Destiny in the Lebensraum idea, it is a fun house pastiche! Most leading Nazis had never left Europe or even Germany, and spoke little to no English! They knew the West through Karl May pulp novels!

Weak parties are a large part of how we've ended up where we are. If we had a parliamentary system the candidates would be 100% controlled by the party. I'm cool with primaries and for the party to exert some influence.

Not from Maine, but I understand how critical it is for the Dems to flip this seat. I'd rather not seat a 77yo Senator, but she does have the advantages of being a known quantity with a resume of electoral success. Maybe Platner would be better, but the primary will sort that out.

I remain not a doomer. But the best hope we have, at this point, is the calendar. We have to hope the opinion doesn't come down at a time when they can re-draw the maps for 2026. This, of course, doesn't save us from a potential Wisconsinized scenario where we can't win the house from 2028 on.
