Some of my favorite bands are the ones that were making music 30-40 years ago that sounds like it could come out today.

I love nostalgia, but this is a different thing.

The absolute (justifiable) fury of the US Afg veteran community when Biden didn't do enough to assist Afg translators, etc. post withdrawal was incredible. That's exactly when his net approval went negative.

I hope we see a similar effect here, but I'm not holding my breath.
NEW: The New York Times got a State Dept. cable telling diplomats to destroy visas that had been approved and printed to give to Afghans. And diplomats are told to do scheduled interviews but not grant visas. US shuts all legal entry routes for Afghans. Our story: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/28/u...

@dinosaurbob.bsky.social the bassist for Poi Dog Pondering took one of my classes (in Chicago 🤷‍♂️) and kept falling asleep.
In a prior life I taught classes that were eligible for PMI PDUs. I don't miss that.

Gemini 3 tells me (and I'm just going to trust it on this) that that's about 86,400 Burgundy snails (992 lbs).

On something like the 5th annual rewatch of Expanse and still noticing lots of details missed before.

Like in the first episode after Ilus when Amos is on the passenger ship to Earth he's using Murtry's corporate bag as luggage and he's just written "Amos" over "Murtry" with a red marker.

It's really interesting to me that so much of American industrial production was really crap in the 70s, but it wasn't because we couldn't do incredible things.
Doing this in my head after a big meal and too much beer, so I could be off, but I think Voyager 1 will reach one (1) light day from Earth in October or November of next year, and one light day from the Sun in January 2027. 🧪 🔭

This is going to be either a very curious bottle to share with guests or one of the worst to ever break in my luggage. We'll find out soon!

I got curious, and it is not surprising that original Bob Ross paintings are 6 figures - some high 6 figures.

The prevalence of Guinness and pizza are good examples of the horrors that immigration has wrought on America.
Trumpism and Trumpists are incompatible with American culture and traditions and should be purged.

NYers traditionally called Maine "down east" because the prevailing winds were from the south, and ships from NY to Maine traveled downwind.

I'm not sure they really need pressure. When I spent a lot of time in the UK 15+ years ago, there was wall-to-wall coverage of the refugee crisis.
It's not just that the United States has stopped trying to promote liberal democratic ideas internationally. It's that the United States is actively trying to promote the contrary. It's trying to turn more countries into Hungary.
