If Trump believes Bill Barr and Chris Wray set up MAGA on January 6th, why hasn’t he arrested them?

Methodist, not evangelical.

Maybe he should discuss with Chris Wray and Bill Barr, his own handpicked leaders who ran DOJ.

I have no idea why people post this kind of defeatism.

You’re limiting options too early.

There’s no reason they can’t be consigned to the facilities that they built for others.

Just got back from Normal, IL for a lecture at Illinois State University. Established in 1857 after this small town lawyer named Abe secured the funding. Was reminded once again that US public universities are the triumph of civilization

Just plain weird

Social shunning is necessary but not sufficient.
minerva1.bsky.social
That’s not a real problem.

Which you would understand if you had a liberation theology.

Chicagoland is a friendly, safe, vibrant, & fun place. I’m very happy my kids have grown up in the Rogers Park neighborhood of the city, & in Evanston. They’re both wonderful places.

But ICE is attacking us. People are doing everything possible to protect their neighbors. But it’s hard.

I know we should celebrate Tony Fitzpatrick for his Chicago art, but I'll always love his portrait of NYC's Flaco
A colorful, vibrant collage with Flaco the Eurasian eagle-owl at its center, a multicolored pinwheel on top of him, and various iconography, including the NYC Parks Department logo (a green London plane tree leaf), the old subway-token design, a map of Central Park, etc.

Re: Europe and U.S: When did they ever stop?
minerva1.bsky.social
Indeed. Catholics and mainline Protestants have a basis for liberation theology but evangelicals are about 20% of the U.S. and they’ve gone in a…different direction.

The Trump-Texas abuse is problematic to the point where the guard could simply unravel.

The National Guard mainly exists for domestic purposes as a compact where Governors agree to help each other in cases of disasters.

It runs on trust and norms of reciprocity.

Having Governors send their troops against the will of the receiving state creates some real long term problems.

Texas is preparing emergency resources for wildfires and floods. The Texas National Guard should be THERE — not in Illinois.

We stand ready to support their return home so they are best positioned for helping Texans respond to any natural disasters.
Abbott activates emergency resources ahead of growing wildfire threat, flood risk in Texas
With expected growing wildfire danger across Texas and the potential for a flood risk this weekend, Gov. Greg Abbott is activating more state emergency response resources Friday.

Sure but a multiracial congregation or one with liberal voting practices is not proof of a liberation theology.

Does SBC have a liberation theology?

Black and mainline Protestant. I take your point about cross pollination but Wesleyan, Methodist, Episcopalian, this is pretty clear cut.

AME. That’s mainline Protestant.

That’s not mainline Protestant?
