Two schisms in one pic!
Mar Awa III, patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, also born in Chicago, gave Pope Leo a Cubs jersey.
Prepare for the next AWS outage to be even longer as the brain drain continues.

If someone wanted to harm USA agriculture they'd do 5 things.
1. Deport labor, make work in USA inhospitable
2. Start tariff wars that end US commodity crop exports
3. Fire experts in transmissible livestock disease
4. Invite/subsidize foreign meat competition
5. Tell farmers how much I love them.
I’ll go further…rather than feed everyone 40% of it ends up in the garbage.
1) we’ve had the productive capacity to produce food for every living person on this planet

2) we have the logistics to deliver these to every person on this planet

3) we have ideologies and philosophies to know that’s good

That we don’t is a choice. And a moral failure.

The wildest thing about this is these folks control email lists in the millions and could convert them into a powerful, direct, information distribution mechanism but they'd rather hit you up for $7.
the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

“They’ve got money for ICE and golden ballrooms but not for hungry families” is so easy it’s almost funny
Johnson: Snap benefits is a unique situation. I got a summary of the legal analysis…the contingency funds are not legally available to cover the benefits right now

Refusing to feed people while building a massive ballroom is a fast track to eat the rich. No pun intended.

This is a cross section of activity (as OP notes, there is so, so much extending into the burbs that cannot fit on one map) but a good start in understanding the current situation
Its so hard to understand the scope and scale of the Federal attack on Chicago, led by ICE and CBP.

I put this map and table together, highlighting the most significant incidents from 9/19-10/25. The area shown is roughly 30 by 35 miles with incidents in all corners.

SNAP is probably the most effective federal dollar we spend in terms of long term domestic economic outcomes.

that isn’t why you should support it; you should support it because it is a moral imperative to feed the hungry.

but it’s why even a growth-oriented ghoul shouldn’t oppose it.

My big takeaway from Trump's lengthy Air Force One gaggle is that he's talking about shredding the Constitution by being in office for a third term increasingly openly.

If you don't think he try it, you're in denial.
Trump on a third term: "I would love to do it. I have the best numbers ever. Am I not ruling it out? You'll have to tell me."
Someone also posted about a giant ripple effect too because SNAP also means a hell of a lot of farmers get paid.

The food insecurity situation is going to get really, really bad, really, really quickly, isn’t it?

We're almost upon every fire department's favorite time of the year, when they get to make cool ass videos under the guise of PSAs of them setting turkeys on fire.
