To everyone adding alt-text to your posts so #NoKings signs and pics can be #Accessible to all, thanks on behalf of the #Blind community. Even a little thing like that is an act of love and resistance. And I'm personally loving all the descriptions of random costumed protesters. Bravo!

This is officially my favorite perspective on today.
folks can complain about the effectiveness of scheduled orderly mass protest but to think about it another way its the closest thing we have to the opening scene of A Muppet Christmas Carol where all the muppets sing "there goes Mr. Dipshit, there goes Mr. Ass" to Scrooge and it clearly bothered him

This is correct. It’s VCs who spend their time doing drugs and inventing weird religions, executives who have boners about firing workers, and non-technical hucksters who are pushing this stuff. The vast majority of people doing actual technical work on the ground feel the way this piece describes
Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

Today I keep thinking about this lovely and troubling couplet from the musical Suffs:

Your ancestors are all the proof that you need
That progress is possible, not guaranteed

March for the generations to come, but also for the generations before us who fought good fights.

Why this quote? >

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”
