one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

For the pursuit of knowledge, Franklin would LOVE the of the Internet, especially Wikipedia. However. I believe he would be disheartened by the state of the government. I can easily imagine him reading the news and casually saying “We couldn’t keep it.”
I would live @kelsapellettiere.com's take (she's the expert, follow her damnit) but I feel Franklin would adapt to the stuff that he may disagree with as a man of his time and be absolutely stunned by our level of global communication.
You can't convince me Ben Franklin wouldn't love modern US culture.

If you’ve seen about Oxford on the news, it is pretty bad here. I think the comparison I made to a hurricane the other day is about correct, as someone that’s lived through a few major hurricanes in my life. Fortunately the car survived, damage to the house appears minimal.

FOLKS we are back online! Huge props to the city of Oxford for their hard work, our street (which granted is only a mile south of the Square) was restored less than 48 hours after the outage after a devastating ice storm. Thought it was going to be a cold night - indoor temp was 47!

So we are in the middle of the big ice storm and the power is going on and off erratically as we are trying to get some sleep.
Unfortunately ALL of the lights in my house come on when the power returns including the giant fan light in my bedroom that I never use.

In case you were wondering, NBC’s Nightly News broadcast aired the discredited “official” DHS report of what happened (the victim approached them with a gun and was shot as he resisted being disarmed) without any additional facts or evidence of what actually happened.
